By now everyone will know that we are sending a frigate to the Strait of Homuz to assist the US etc...
I read somewhere that it will take six months for the boat to arrive.....
Don't know why it would take six months...maybe our ships only travel at 5 knots an hour...
Maybe the boat is so obsolete...maybe we should have sent the HMAS Newcastle....no wait...we scuttled
that didn't we....
Iran must be shaking its boots knowing that the might of the Australian Navy has joined the fray.... :rofl
I suppose our ship will be captained by some dumb female wanting to be a man....yawn yawn....
I wonder how many days of oil we've got left at the moment....is it 28...27...26..... :rofl
Maybe we should send our subs....no wait...we don't get them for 30 years..... :rofl

:rofl

The aircraft is not being deployed until next year from what I have read and the frigate will be stationed in the Strait or Hormuz for six months but was already heading to the area. No idea when it arrives but I also wonder what the delay is.

It's like promising tax relief, electricity relief etc but not for 4 years or so, which they all do.

For Pete’s sake.

I suppose the bottom line is

"The submission said that three of Australia's seven refineries had closed in the previous five years and the country's "capacity for short-term surge production and fuel switching was limited".
The executive director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Peter Jennings, told Fact Check a lack of refineries and fuel farms meant Australia would not have the capacity to store large quantities of fuel.
"We would not be able to actually keep much in-country stock because our fuel farms are now so decrepit and falling out of service that we wouldn't have the capacity to store it all," Mr Jennings said.
"It would take several billions of dollars to get us to a point where we'd have the storage capacity."

The location of subs is secret -

we could have one there now.

She didn't want the ALP winning, therefore she wanted the Tories to win. QED.

Indeed. Billy is mistaking the new BARRACUDA class which we have signed a contract to purchase with the existing COLLINS class which is presently in the water, sailing 'round Australia. A submarine in the Straits of Hormuz would be of little value. The role of the naval forces there is to be both visible and be a deterrent to any Iranian surface craft which might be operating there. The straits are quite shallow so submarines would not normally operate there and their invisibility would prevent them from deterring anybody. Their lack of a deck gun would tell against them as well, with Torpedos being both expensive and rather final in their use.

However, Billy's excuse is his ignorance that comes from being an amateur I suppose. The reason why it is going to take our frigate so long to reach the Straits is 'cause the RAN is committed elsewhere and lacks the manpower to adequately man all our naval vessels. Half our submarine fleet is in dock at any one time as a consequence as is one of our destroyers. The RAN is scrabbling it seems to man the ships it does have when faced with a buoyant civilian economy and a well functioning mining industry that offers better conditions and terms than the navy can afford.

The comment regarding our subs going to Homuz was made tongue in cheek arsewipe…..
Im actually surprised that we still have a Navy, considering how incompetent our political leaders
are...
The ridiculous part of the whole fiasco is that Trump appealed to 56 countries for assistance and got stuff all
response...
Why arent other countries sending their frigates...why arent they getting involved...maybe they dont have to kiss US arse....
