August is our hottest month of the year. We’ve had a very mild Summer until the last 3 weeks. Our current temperatures are pretty typical for August.

In 1980, we had 70 consecutive days of 100+F days. The previous Winter, we had ice storms and the tree in front of our house split down the middle from the weight of the ice. Texas weather is all over the place.

OMG that is hot!! Sounds hotter than here but I am on the coast with lower temps in Summer than many areas of Aus!! It's around 20 C or 68 F right now and suits me just fine although Spring begins here on 1st September and then on comes the start of the heat and the fires etc.
Its been going as low as 8 C in my shed, a little brisk :b

It was 3C when I got up this morning and is currently 10C. It won't warm up here in Canberra until about November.*** We have even had sleet and the heating on at Christmas. February is our hottest month.

As some wise person wrote, many years ago, "Canberra is cold for 10 months of the year and then 2 months it is like living in a Brickworks". I rarely go out in the midday sun, only mad dogs and Englishmen to that. :rofl

*** Summer begins on 1 December. :D

Nope. Officially. Canberra is NOT the Real World.

Summer: 1 December - end February (28/29 Feb)
Autumn: 1 March - 30 May
Winter: 1 June - 31 August
Spring: 1 September - 30 November

30 days hath September, April, June and November ... etcetera :D

Our Summer officially begins June 21. One more month of heat, typically.

The British do the same, i.e. change of Season on the "equinox" or whatever. We Aussies try to be different. ;) KISS* :rofl

So I just found out that my son is doing a big solo during his school's marching band show this year. He does a quick costume change and climbs on top of a 2 1/2 meter platform to do his saxophone solo while the rest of the band is still marching. He'll do this at every football game and marching band competition for the entire season. I'm kind of excited to see the band for a change. Forget the football game. That's the pre band and post band show.

When they finish learning the complete show, I'll find a video and link it. It'll be a few weeks.

Here is their show from last year.
