This is well worth a listen as well, a good insight into the man!

Tim Fischer's 1000 days in the Eternal City

Tim Fischer served as Deputy Prime Minister of Australia during the Howard Government from 1996 to 1999.

He resigned from parliament in 2001 and returned to the family farm.

In 2008 Tim received a surprise call from Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, asking him to become Australia's first full-time representative to the Vatican.

Tim kept a diary to record his 1000 days in the Eternal City, and later wrote a book based on the diary.

I would have thought Mugabe would have been right up your ally Brian: a black racist socialist who hated whites.

I remember a lecture at Adelaide Uni in the early 90s: my lecturer thought Mugabe was the bees knees.

No accounting for taste, "Nicole". Mugabe was always a bastard. I have a friend who went to or rather tried to go to Zimbabwe for the independence celebrations. She was refused for some obscure reason by the old-style, Apartheid RSA Government and languished in South Africa for near 2 years. I have little time for tyrants - unlike some...

She was young and impressionable. She felt it would be good to get in on the ground and have fun. She came up against the old RSA though, which didn't want her to have fun.

Hey Brian, could you get back on the "races are equal" thread so that I can continue to kick your arse?
