Now that UPS and Fedex are so prominent in the US, I'd like to see the US Postal Service be taken off of the government teat and let them live or die on their own merits. Their service is lacking when compared to the privately owned competition. They are pretty reliable, but their timing is lacking compared to UPS and Fedex. I recently had a package sent "2 day air" by USPS. It took 2 weeks. USPS was necessary when it was started in the 19th century, but the private sector has passed it and now it is just a tax burden.

Do you have private options in Australia? I assume Fedex and UPS are there. How well do they operate?

Not well. Why? Because Australia Post is dominate (and more efficient, despite the whinging). Privatising the mail system has happened in the UK and is the subject of endless complaints. Australia Post operates in places that UPS and FedEx would never service because they would be considered "uneconomic". By cross subsidies people in remote communities are assured of getting equivalen service to people in the cities. Postal services are services, not profit making facilities.

Exactly. ;)

Christine Holgate is the CEO.
Prior to her appointment as CEO of Australia Post, Holgate was CEO of the vitamin and nutritional supplement company Blackmores. Her salary has been set at A$1.375 million with the same amount possible in bonuses. Holgate worked as a Christmas postie when she was 18.
Does she earn her huge salary?

Got to admit
I do a fair bit of on line shopping
Only ever had one damaged parcel
The postman brought it in and explained that the wind closed the door as he was taking it out.
It was only worth 20 bucks so I just bought another.

Other than that, no REAL complaints.

My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream
