Yes it is a disgrace no-one is denying that but where do you suggest we do get oil? We can't just waive a magic wand.

We import 91% of our fuel now...without kowtowing to the US.....
But why do we import anything when we have billions of barrels of oil right here
in Australia......…

Oh that's right....we closed all but four of our refineries...why bring it up when we cant refine it...….

Australian governments are absolutely incompetent....
We tend to think that China is buying up Australia.....

The United States of America is at the forefront.....not China.....China runs 5th...
But guess what....land the size of Victoria is foreign owned.....

I thought this deal was struck in return for Australia joining the US and the UK with regard to protecting international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

If that's the case I have no problem with it.

Have you got a link to show that’s the case.. otherwise it seems that the government is unprepared.

Theyre probably waiting for an opinion from Reynolds and Payne....
Can you believe it....our involvement in this Iran/USA dispute is dependant on these
clowns trying to decide yes or no.........

Now that Russia is involved...its probably all too hard for our muppets....
My money is on the "no" decision.......due to the delay in deciding.....

Let me try to get my head around this...

a) Australia commits $738 million to the Chinese Infrastructure Bank
b) Australias total shareholding will be $3.7 billion in the CIB
c) Hockey tells us that its a great investment, stating that Australia will benefit greatly...
d) The CIB spend our money on upgrading Indias ports....
e) China is granted a 99 year lease of a Darwin port
f) The Qld government grant multi million dollar loans to Adani to mine coal but defers payment of royalties
by Adani for five years....
g) At one stage the federal government was going to lend Adani a billion dollars to get the mine up and running....
h) The coal mined by Adani will be shipped to India at ports ungraded via the moneys we have paid to the CIB...
I) Millions of barrels of oil are still to be brought to the surface in WA, yet we close down all our refineries...
j) Recently we were told that more coal mines will be opened up in Australia...
k) What happened to our emissions target...more coal mines...??

I could be excused for saying WTF is going on....

Are our governments incompetent, or are our politicians easy meat for economic hitmen from other countries...
Perhaps 50/50.....

Still no announcement by government as to whether Australia is going to assist the US in the conflict
in the Strait of Hormuz…
Also I have exhausted my googling expertise on just how much the state and federal governments are going to
loan Adani...
It all must be very secret....

Of course the best judge of future behaviour is past behaviour, and therefore on that basis, we will be assisting....
That was always on the cards...
We must kiss American arse....
Lets not forget of course that Petrobas refused to re-fuel two Iranian freighters not long ago at a Brazilian port
as to do so would contravene US sanctions...the freighters were to transport corn back to Iran...
The international Court of Justice has deemed this sanction illegal...as well as being immoral...
But then again, the US isnt really interested in the legality of their sanctions...if a country anywhere
in the world doesnt toe the line...they just impose sanctions....or just bomb the crap out of them...
In any case, the real reason that the US is imposing sanctions on Iran is because Iran dumped the dollar
in favour of the Euro....
AND we cant have that now can we........
SO please Mr Trump....can we bludge some oil off you........

I don't view it as "kissing America's ass" by sending a ship to the Strait of Hormuz. It's an international shipping lane and will affect us all if Iran blocks it.

That's quite apart from our idiot politicians, from both sides, allowing our oil reserves to fall well below what they should be.
