I thought this deal was struck in return for Australia joining the US and the UK with regard to protecting international shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

If that's the case I have no problem with it.

That's the very reason why Australia is in the shape that its in at the moment.....
Everything is too expensive...prices for everything just keep on going up.....
Theres no point in granting us tax relief, or increasing the basic wage, when everything
keeps on going up.....
Rent/mortgages/cars/furniture/groceries/electricity...you name it...it keeps going up.....
We have no auto industry...we don't produce anything...we cant even keep our oil refineries going....
All we've got is our rocks.....once no-one wants them...we're stuffed......
And we rely on our governments...state and federal to run the joint....
