I hate to say it but the quality of our tradies isnt what it used to be either..

they are not trained properly these days its all about getting them passed no matter how good or bad they are...

sorry but its true...it sadly is the same in most industries... even medical people are churned out robot style.. quick as possible..

quality went out the window a long time ago...god I am glad I dont have to begin at the beginning again.
Most of these shonky buildings are the product of Chinese developers. THAT is what we need to stop.

Chinese developers don't put the buildings up, Black Orchid. Australian tradespeople do that. What annoys me is that you ignore the real culprits in this whole affair - Government(s). Governments of all hues have dismembered the apprentice system and you wonder why we now have shoddy workmanship on buildings? Really?

The only unit I'd ever buy is a red or blond brick, max 3 levels, max 12 apartments.
With a window to see the girls sunbaking topless on the roof across the street eh Gordy?

:o :rofl
That was from my flying car, remember?

Shoddy work has always been a problem.
It's the council inspectors that approve it.
There's plenty of blame to around.

Actually there are some buildings in Sydney knocked up by Chinese developers that are just terrible. There are terrible buildings by Aussie developers too but I reckon 100% by Chinese are shocking.

There are some good developers just have to do your homework.

I can't believe how fast the Chinese knock a place up.
Even large apartment blocks are finished in 2 months or less -
ones with 6 two storey townhouses on a small block.

A mate of mine has been living in a beautiful two story place he had built by reputable builders 20 years
ago. He recently had to have the bathrooms completely re built etc due to a leak in the shower recess...
Long story...but even the best of builders/tilers/plumbers stuff it up somewhere...
Conversely, another mate with some building expertise virtually inspected the construction of his home
as it went up and actually had to chastise builders for errors they were making...also about 20 years ago..
Don't know what the quality is like these days but it all sounds like a bit of a raffle to me...
I think outsourcing the building certifications to avoid litigation was a mistake...
Once again a wonderful government initiative....pft….rorts galore now...…

On another note, a family member has almost completed her nursing course, which includes 12 months
in the wards...preceded by two years of study and no time in the wards...
Sometimes I think its all a bit skew whiff these days...
My late wife spent three years in the wards, became a nursing sister, passed her final exams without
studying and later became a Matron in a private nursing hospital....
Bit different to today...…
But I digress......

Its coming...the rest of the world versus islam....or is it here already...

Maybe you're better off buying an older place where there are
no cracked bricks etc -
so that you have proof that it has stood the test of time?

Houses are coming down and being replaced by units not far from me faster than you can blink. They are probably not only cutting many corners but are also damned ugly. No character and all similar.
