Yeah I am sure we do the same!
I wonder how they would like us doing it in the south China seas?
I seem to recall reading lately when we sailed through that area, Chinese fishing boats were shining lasers into the eyes of our helicopter pilots flying off our ships

They have also targeted US aircraft in the Pacific with lasers. They are ratbags and the absolute worst and untrustworthy people I ever had to do business with in the past. They will screw you any which way they can for a dollar.

We, obviously are, to the Chinese .... let's hope the Russians don't start sending ships down here ... they do enough damage with computer malware and the like.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:36 pmOf course the US and ourselves do the same. We just aren't as obvious

Sydney is full of Chinese "spies" all living in highrise apartments, I presume. I would guarantee that they don't use BigPond as their ISP.Redneck wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:39 pmYeah I am sure we do the same!

The yanks have far more sophisticated surveillance techniques than having to have a ship sitting on the outer edge like some kid not invited to a party and I can't imagine why the Russians would be interested in sending ships down here.Neferti~ wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:50 pmWe, obviously are, to the Chinese .... let's hope the Russians don't start sending ships down here ... they do enough damage with computer malware and the like.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:36 pmOf course the US and ourselves do the same. That's probably WHY the Chinese are spying ....Black Orchid wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:54 pmThe yanks have far more sophisticated surveillance techniques than having to have a ship sitting on the outer edge like some kid not invited to a party and I can't imagine why the Russians would be interested in sending ships down here.Neferti~ wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:50 pmWe, obviously are, to the Chinese .... let's hope the Russians don't start sending ships down here ... they do enough damage with computer malware and the like.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 4:36 pmOf course the US and ourselves do the same. Russia has no interest in a desert full of kangaroos, venomous black mambas, crocodiles and stingrays, located at the bottom of the world. Russia has interest in Europe, because check this out, a map for all uneducated people here. NATO has surrounded Russia, not the opposite.
Australians need to wise up, because currently, you people sound STUPID. I'm serious. And by the way, these graphics are the fact why I respect Austria and Switzerland the most. They're not the typical American Jew muppets.

The one that says the least can often have a very different perspective and hold the answer. The least qualified person may hold the most wisdom. When you don’t have knowledge or experience blocking your perspective, you can see problems and solutions.

Australia is and never has been a "priority" for Washington, unless Washington wants to make it one. Washington has turned down our requests for aid four times - 1960, 1965, 1975 and 1999. All concerned Indonesia first in West New Guinea, then during Konfrontasi and then in East Timor twice. Our "alliance" with Washington really isn't worth the paper it's written on. All it makes clear is that we are entitled to a conference if the pooh hits the fan.Redneck wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 3:23 pmbrian ross wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2019 2:37 pmFinally some sense. That is what I have been saying for decades. The US defends what it wants to defend because it is an asset to it. As long as Australia hosts US defence bases, we are an asset to the US. As soon as we are shot of them, the US will be asking, "Not what have you done for us but what have you done for us lately?" If the pooh ever hits the fan.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2019 3:55 pmWe are a strategic asset to the US, if nothing else. They won't give that up lightly so I believe we are safe.
Neither are a direct threat to Australia. Australia is simply too far away from either. China can purchase all the raw materials it likes from Australia, so why do they need to threaten us directly?
------------------------------------------------------------------
I was referring to things getting difficult between USA and Russia/China making Australia less of a priority to USA
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nah I believe in that saying "a time of peace is when you prepare for war! "-----------------------------------------------------------------
Si vis pacem, para bellum - "If you want peace, prepare for war" - Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus's tract De Re Militari (4th or 5th century AD).
Unfortunately, it invariably leads to war, rather than prevents it.
Examples Please
WWI - the naval race between the UK and Germany. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq I are all examples that spring to mind.
Which has never been confirmed... Nuclear weapons are expensive. Very expensive. We would need to basically double our taxes.Israel is a good example to follow in my opinion.
Israel is a bad example to follow. It's government continually manufactures a threat and then fulfils that threat...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was not referring to Israels behaviour rather its militarial preparedness in having Nuclear weapons capability
