US illegals get the bill

Post by sprintcyclist » Sun Jul 07, 2019 10:31 pm

The Trump administration is seeking to fine some immigrants, who are in the United States illegally, hundreds of thousands of dollars for failing to take steps to leave after being ordered to do so, according to government documents obtained by NPR.

The Department of Homeland Security sent out a batch of notices across the country to targeted individuals ordering them to pay fines of up to nearly $500,000 for "failing to depart the U.S. as previously agreed," among other factors.

It's the latest hard-line effort by the administration as it clamps down on illegal immigration at the border and increases interior enforcement.

"It is the intention of ICE to order you pay a fine in the amount of $497,777," Lisa Hoechst, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer, wrote to Edith Espinal Moreno in a letter dated June 25, 2019, obtained by NPR from lawyers for Moreno.

The letters come as the Trump administration prepares to carry out delayed immigration sweeps of migrant families who have received deportation orders. President Trump said Monday, while signing legislation providing $4.6 billion in funding to address the influx of migrants from Central America, that the immigration raids will begin after the July 4 holiday if Congress can't pass new restrictions on asylum laws.

At the beginning of his term, Trump signed an executive order promising, "as soon as practicable, and by no later than one year after the date of this order," that the administration would begin collection of "all fines and penalties that the Secretary is authorized under the law to assess and collect from aliens unlawfully present in the United States." ........

Trump has the right idea about migration -- which is to say, no one has a right to enter a sovereign country without permission.

I was happy when he withdrew the United States from the U.N. Global Compact on Migration. Sovereign Western nations have no obligation to assimilate Third World migrants. If we do anything, we should help them in their own countries.

Apart from ALL these people seeking "asylum" as MUSLIMS why would they think that CHRISTIAN America would accept their religion which is extremely different?

I would be extremely happy if we withdrew from it too. Right now I have no clue if we are in or out. We are kept in the dark about this.

I also agree that we should be keeping them in their own countries and helping them there.

Australia abstained from voting for the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) on the basis that it “undermine Australia’s strong border protection laws and practices,” and would not sign it.

Of course, what that translated to was the the then Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnball, was very much in the thrall of the Dries in the Tories and couldn't dare to buck against their antediluvian views on Migration.

Help them or helping ourselves to their stuff, Black Orchid? Australia, unlike the US actually has a good reputation in this regard. The US OTOH has a bad one. Just look at Central America, South America, Europe, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, etc...

If by "bad reputation" you mean we don't transform ourselves from a sovereign nation into a Third World spillway, I'll take that as a compliment (although the Democrats would prefer open borders). We don't owe other nations' migrants a single thing.

Just ask native citizens of Sweden and Germany if their countries are better or worse since they threw their gates open to hundreds of thousands of Islamic refugees. For instance: https://www.thelocal.de/20161215/year-a ... ntegration

Hundreds of women that night described running a gauntlet of theft, groping and lewd insults in a crush of mainly Arab and north African men. Other German cities reported similar incidents during their end of year festivities.

Cologne police reports later revealed that of some 1,200 complaints filed about the incidents, over 500 were for sexual assault. Most of the perpetrators were never caught.

Gee, Angela, imagine that ... not every culture treats women as equals! Who knew?

Actually, 2 minutes on the internet would have told you that before you introduced this human virus into your country's bloodstream. And since they'll outbreed native Germans, I'd say your country's future is pretty much screwed.

Looks like Australia did the smart thing too and essentially told the U.N. it could toss its Global Compact on Migration into a "global compactor." Good on ya!

Here's what Peter Dutton said:

“We’re concerned about the way in which [the compact] might be interpreted by the courts here. We’re concerned about whether or not it starves us … of the ability to decide the way in which we can return people. Under the compact certain obligations could be imposed where we needed to support people once they’d been returned to a country of origin.”

He's probably right. In any case, who needs a multinational agreement to determine your own country's policy toward migrants? Live by your own laws and tell the U.N. to butt out.

The UN are the most useless, annoying organization conceived. I am actually surprised at this, as Australia tends to pander to them.

Didn't Australia help draft the UN Migration Pact?
