Fake Chinese Beggars Flown to Melbourne CBD

Police have charged six people over an alleged "professional begging" operation in which elderly Chinese people were flown to Melbourne on tourist visas to target passers-by in the CBD.

Officers charged the group of six Chinese nationals with begging and possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of crime during a targeted operation in the city centre on Monday and Tuesday.

A seventh man charged with the same offences was described by Acting Inspector John Travaglini as a "Caucasian male" whose activities were not linked to the group.

Begging or gathering alms is a crime in Victoria which can carry a penalty of one year in jail.

Acting Inspector Travaglini said those charged were claiming to be homeless but officers later discovered they had access to shared housing in the CBD.

He confirmed the alleged offenders were in Australia on tourist visas and a number of them had recently transferred Australian dollars into Chinese yuan.

Inspector Travaglini said while all begging was illegal, the false claims of homelessness were "deceitful" and concerning.

"You've got your traditional style of begging if you like, that we see on Melbourne streets and the CBD and like I said, different metropolitan communities," he told ABC Radio Melbourne.

"Generally speaking those people are vulnerable and in need and are genuinely homeless, whereas these people have flown into the country just to make money off Melburnians' goodwill.

"Aggressive" is a subjective adjective. We all know that snowflakes these days even find "manspreading" to be "volatile", and simply calling negroes - "negroes" is considered racist, even though the word negro means black, in Spanish. Now they're "people of color". It's a different opinion and it's not masqueraded in three buckets of make-up. The soon Anglo-Saxons realise they're with low IQ, the sooner they can work on becoming better.

I wish begging were more illegal here. Bums like to write “Will work for food” on a piece of cardboard and look pitiful in the large cities. They make pretty good money from gullible saps. I flew into El Paso and checked into a hotel. Just before I got to the hotel, I passed some bums begging under a highway overpass. They pulled into the hotel and got in line behind me at the hotel. They got separate rooms and were talking about their homes a couple of hours away. As I walked outside to park my car, I noticed one of them opening his trunk. It was FULL of iced beer. It was all a big party for them.

Every once in a while, we’ll get an investigative story on the local news. A reporter will follow a “homeless “ person to their $50k car at the end of the day. Since they get money from my taxes, that’s all they get nowadays.

Professional begging seems to be becoming very popular. These are probably the ones who are the pushiest so they can collect their money quickly and then go home.

I sometimes give money to the ones who sit on their mat quietly but I never give anything to those who get in your face.
