Teachers do an incredible amount of work which they are not effectively paid for. After school sport? Teachers. Marking school work after hours? Teachers. School camps? Teachers. They deserve better pay than that they are receiving IMO. We are a pretty stuffed society where lawyers earn more than those that care for our young. Lawyers attend university for four years and then go on and are apprenticed to older lawyers to "learn their trade". Teachers attend university for three years and are then thrown to the wolves.
