Ash Barty has ended Australia’s 10-year wait for a women’s quarter-finalist at the Aussie Open with an emphatic, dramatic comeback win over champion Maria Sharapova.

Barty caught fire from 1-1 in the second set where she peeled off nine straight games and broke Sharapova’s serve four-times consecutively to eventually run away to a convincing 4-6 6-1 6-4 victory that puts her through to a quarter-final against No. 8 seed Petra Kvitova on Tuesday.

why is the Media talking about those men, like cockinarses and tonic, who are losers, loud mouths and who were bundled out in the first round, and don't even seem Australian to me - if nothing else they are Unaustralian

we have plenty of talent elsewhere - players who try hard and not act like entitled Jackasses - we need to give them more air time

Great to see Barty doing so well...makes up for the professional tourist (Stosur)
who spends most of her time lying beside a pool somewhere drinking martinis.....
Of course she gets well paid for being a tourist......
A good bet would be to back her opponent in the first round of every tournament she plays
