What's this all about?

A couple I knew when I was young was Iona Young and Graeme Dick.

She joked one night that she would not marry him as then she would be a 'Mrs Iona Dick'

I worked with a girl who went out with a guy whos last name was Bug...

she said she couldnt bear the thought of being called Mrs Bug and all her little buggers....

My dad used to frame custom homes for a builder named Mike Hunt.

I’ve had friends named Les Moore and Rich Poor.

I can't seem to understand. Why Yanks keep naming their children Dick? It's so fucking stupid. That's basically insulting your own kid, and setting it for an eternal suffering through mockery.

Dick is a nickname for Richard. I don't know why anybody would want to be called Dick, when Rick, Ricky, and Rich are also variations of the same name. I don't think "Dick" has always been slang for penis, but it has been for a few decades. The youngest "Dick" that I know is 55. It's pretty much avoided nowadays.

I gave my sons old school Biblical names that couldn't be twisted into something dirty. It has worked out.
