I'm not brand loyal when it comes to tools, but I do love my Milwaukee 12V screw gun. The torque settings keep you from stripping threads and it has just enough torque to drive a 3" decking screw into wood. They sell dozens of tools that share the same battery, which make it convenient for recharging.

My Dad was very partial to Makita skill saws when I was growing up. They were lighter, better balanced, and he liked their dependability. He liked Paslode nail guns and Chevy trucks. Until 1984, when his transmission kept going out in his Chevy. Chevy kept fixing it under warranty, but said that when the warranty expired, he was on his own. He traded it in on a Ford and hasn't driven anything but a Ford since 1984.

I have a few Makita tools at home and some at work. They are very good, as your dad said, light, well balanced, reliable.
Just lovely to use.
Was thinking of a makita router. Then, would need a router table and vacuum system. It all is a bot much for something I have no idea of using.

oohhh, maybe a makita battery powered circular saw ?
Have a 240V one.

Can start a 18V battery Makita kit.

I have been a Ford man since about the same time,

Fairmonts, Fairmont Ghias and Falcons although did own a 1973 GMH Holden Monaro GTS V8 before that in my hoon days, "it went like the powers of piss" (Aussie Expression Very Fast) but wasnt as reliable as the Fords .

Exactly the same colour as this one!

I'm a Ford person too.

My ex had a Monaro just like that and he also had a very exxy Torana that someone stole.
