After New Zealand banned people from having guns in reaction to the terrible shooting in March, almost everyone is refusing to obey the law.
>snip<
According to a new report from the NZ Herald, however, the citizens feel “safer” by holding on to their guns.
It is estimated that roughly 250,000 people own the recently-banned semi-automatic weapons in New Zealand. Estimates show that these 250,000 gun owners — who were turned into criminals overnight by their government — own around 300,000 firearms.
Since the government attempted to disarm these 250,000 people, only 530 guns have been turned in.
Government officials are attributing the lack of gun turn-ins to citizens wanting to be properly compensated for their weapons. However, the complexity of this situation is likely far different.
“If they are being serious about their considerations and ensuring that there is fair and reasonable compensation, then firearm owners will wait a bit longer to make sure it is just and it is fair when it is received,” Nicole McKee, Secretary of the Council of Licensed Firearm Owners, told the NZ Herald.
“We are effectively being punished for the acts of a foreign terrorist, and we want to make sure that our personal and private property is adequately compensated when it is confiscated,” she said.
But in reality, the people likely don’t want to disarm themselves as this is their only defense against these terrorists. Sure, people don’t simply want to be robbed of their property without compensation. However, there is no amount of money that can compensate someone into being defenseless.

Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.

That's what happened in New York or any other state where they require registrations and mass bans. The vast majority of the people become "criminals". Many leave for less restrictive states. We get way too many "refugees" from New York and California.

Admirations for their bravery, but they're gonna lose eventually. They'll just keep blowing up churches until the feminists in the country start doing enough noise.
The one that says the least can often have a very different perspective and hold the answer. The least qualified person may hold the most wisdom. When you don’t have knowledge or experience blocking your perspective, you can see problems and solutions.

New figures show gun owners are holding back on handing in their firearms, because they're waiting to hear how much the Government will pay for them
Figures released to Newstalk ZB by the New Zealand Police showed that, as of Sunday night, only 530 guns had been handed in since the ban on semi-automatic guns was finalised in early April.
There are around 250,000 licenced firearm holders in New Zealand and it's estimated as many as 300,000 guns could now be illegal.
It comes as gun owners are waiting on any details around compensation for their guns.
That is a very relevant issue not commented upon.

One terrorist act from a foreigner and the progressives expect a whole country to hand over their guns without a quibble yet the very same people totally ignore all the islamic terrorist attacks both here and worldwide daily and the thousands upon thousands of people killed and maimed in these attacks and expect us to still open our arms and borders to them.
