I don’t typically fly flags, I have no problem with excessive “jingoism” on holidays. I don’t fly flags because I don’t want to be disrespectful by doing it improperly. As a veteran, I don’t want to be caught flying a flag after dark without a light, flying a flag that is worn out or not made for bad weather, or incorrectly discarding an old flag. Many people are ignorant of flag etiquette. As a vet, I can’t use that excuse.
One thing that really irks me is if I’m interested in clothing that supports the US or the military and the label says “made in China “ or anywhere besides America. I won’t buy it and I’ll mention it to the nearest employee and anybody else that is near enough to hear me. They can’t do anything about it, but it makes people think. I’d be ashamed if my military son came home and found a Chinese made American flag.
You get upset at things being made in China. What about the MAGA hats which are popular? Most are made in China. How about all the other things that are made in China from TVs to PCs and beyond? More than likely you're typing on a keyboard made in China. We live in a global world. Capitalism seeks to make a profit so it seeks the cheapest labour. Doesn't worry me, overly much. See the word "mainly", Black Orchid or did you miss that in your effort to try and belittle me? I've known many Muslims over the years - not one of them has ever remarked about a woman's dress in the way you're implying. Yes, SOME Muslim did make remarks but I suspect they are rarer than hen's teeth. I know you see ALL Muslim men as ogres, I think you're talking bullshit though, Black Orchid.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 6:07 pmI don't see too many Americans wearing burqas.brian ross wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 5:55 pmOur own culture is drowning in an American cultural invasion.
What planet do you live on again Brian? You live in Fantasyland.Muslims come here and just ask to be accepted for what they are. They aren't out on the street corners preaching, they mainly aren't out there telling women how to dress in public, etc., "Nicole".

Just wait until there are enough of them that they get a little more brave. Have they tried to set up sharia courts yet? It's coming. Have they established "no go zones" for infidels like in Paris? Are your schools providing prayer rooms and time away from studies for students to pray? It's coming.brian ross wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 10:40 pmSee the word "mainly", Black Orchid or did you miss that in your effort to try and belittle me? Re: Patriotism
Patriotism is bullshit that made up by people who control the other people. And those who control the other people, make all the idiotic people die for superstitious gullible things. People are so naive and insecure that they always want something to believe in, so they can justify their pointless lives. That's why stupid people die in wars, and smart ones - live. And this goes for muslims, christians, all the great bunch.
The one that says the least can often have a very different perspective and hold the answer. The least qualified person may hold the most wisdom. When you don’t have knowledge or experience blocking your perspective, you can see problems and solutions.

Yet more Islamophobia, Tex? Muslims are full citizens of Australia and deserve the respect that entails. "Schools" downunder translates to either primary or secondary schools. Schools are either state run or privately, usually religious run. State schools do not allow "prayer" on their premises. Religious schools can do whatever they like. Tertiary education institutions answer the needs of their students and if their students request a prayer room, then it is up to them to answer them. Most Universities have them but then they have a large number of Muslims students.
"No go" zones? Oh, dear, been reading Breitbart have you? The claims about such zones have been long shown to be bullshit.
Sh'ria courts? Some Muslims have attempted to establish such courts as being equal to Australian law courts but they have failed to achieve that. If Muslims want to enter into a "court" and reach an agreement there, it is up to them but such "agreements" will always be over-ruled by normal law courts. They are no different to Rabbinical courts - which do exist but have no legal standing under Australian law.

Underground systems whilst it is being pushed by the Islamic Council. Mediators are being trained to ease the burden of the Family Court as well. An area that really has NO room for any form of sharia in Australia.Texan wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 9:02 amJust wait until there are enough of them that they get a little more brave. http://www.thepointmagazine.com.au/post ... mily-courtLegal Aid is training CALD (culturally and linguistic diverse) mediators to facilitate culturally-specific consent orders that can be signed off before cases reach a Family Court hearing.
For Sheikh Haisam Farache, the role of mediators formally recognises what he’s been doing for years – applying Sharia to arbitrate family disputes and avoid a long and painful journey through the court system.
Farache, a family lawyer and university lecturer who is also known as the 'surfing sheikh', is one of the mediators being trained by Legal Aid. He says he has been applying Sharia during stints as an imam at Artarmon and Lakemba mosques, where he typically facilitated “two or three mediations a day”. If legal action was concurrent around that mediation, the two parties could then go to court to get a legal “seal” on their negotiations – and in many cases, approving an agreement that had its foundation in Sharia.
The Howard Government introduced mediation in 2005 and Farache says that, in effect, “Sharia has been playing out in the Australian Family Court since then”.
There is even a government publication on whether we should recognise sharia law.

No-go zones here are not like Paris ... yet! ... but there are areas surrounding Sydney where you would not want to go especially if you are female and reporters are moved on by police. Most of the older Aussie residents have moved on because the crime rate there is extremely high. Lots of gun crimes and sexual assaults. These areas are in the south west and west of Sydney. I can't speak for other states but the majority of Australian muslims are in Sydney and I can certainly speak about them.
The time will come. Especially if the progressive leftists and Greens get a foothold in government.
Teachers are also threatened and bullied by kids in these same areas in the public school system. Usually females but not limited to.

Sydney also had the "Cronulla riots" in 2005 and then another muslim riot in 2012 where they were 'protesting' about a foreign film.

Re: Patriotism
Which I will note was provoked by a White Aussie riot at Cronulla earlier in the day where people of "Middle Eastern looks", including a Brazillian and an Israeli were assaulted by an out of control gang of a minority of white Anglo-Saxon/Celtic bogans and ambulances and police were stoned and attacked. Hardly a good look for the supposedly superior white Anglo-Saxon/Celtic group in Australian society, now was it? You, OTOH place all the emphasis on the response to that out of control situation. The response by the majority of white Anglo-Saxon/Celtic Australians however was admirable. They condemned the bogan rioters.
