Re: Patriotism
Brian has a point, but he forgets that we can be jingoistic and patriotic at the same time.
I don’t typically fly flags, I have no problem with excessive “jingoism” on holidays. I don’t fly flags because I don’t want to be disrespectful by doing it improperly. As a veteran, I don’t want to be caught flying a flag after dark without a light, flying a flag that is worn out or not made for bad weather, or incorrectly discarding an old flag. Many people are ignorant of flag etiquette. As a vet, I can’t use that excuse.
One thing that really irks me is if I’m interested in clothing that supports the US or the military and the label says “made in China “ or anywhere besides America. I won’t buy it and I’ll mention it to the nearest employee and anybody else that is near enough to hear me. They can’t do anything about it, but it makes people think. I’d be ashamed if my military son came home and found a Chinese made American flag.

BO, did you too get conquered by the black plague (the negro agenda), political correctness, and feminist bullshit - same as with Ossi? I didn’t expect you to fold so quickly though.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 9:51 pmNot that long ago I considered Australia to be a patriotic country. We were proud of our country and grateful to those many tens of thousands who enlisted and fought abroad in many wars to give us the freedoms that we enjoy today. In WW1 we were a country of only 5 million people yet almost one tenth of the population went overseas to fight to give us what we have today.
What happened?
Minority groups now try to make us feel ashamed for who we are. If someone dares raise an Australian flag they are harassed and called racist
On Australia Day we see people burning flags everywhere and we are supposed to accept that as normal behaviour and freedom of expression. We have to put up with rallies with people carrying banners wanting to behead us. We have ghettos full of criminals and drugs where people refuse to adopt our country as their own or even speak the language.
Seriously, if you don't love the country, our country, feel free to leave! Shove your minority panderings and anti Australian sentiments and take a hike.
I admire the patriotism Americans show for their country. Citizens raise their flags with pride and honour. Most when they become Americans take pride in that whether they are black, yellow or white. The picture below is representative of that patriotism and something you would never see here in and I find that sad. Minority groups in Australia would be protesting that they aren't draped in an aboriginal flag.

Pretty positive you don’t need to care about the uniforms. The Starbucks cup your son probably drinks from is made in Guanzhong or whatever. Same as your keyboard on your PC. Your laptop. Smartphone. And many other things.Texan wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 4:58 amBrian has a point, but he forgets that we can be jingoistic and patriotic at the same time.

I can appreciate your position, Tex. It irks me when I see Australians placing their hands over their breasts when they hear the Australian national anthem. It irks me when I don't see Australians removing their hats when the anthem is sung or they don't come to attention. It also irks me when I see Australian flags flown at night without a light shone on them. However, unlike you, I don't say very much, very often about it. Our culture is being destroyed by your culture. Your culture belongs to you, in America. We don't need it here, in Australia.Texan wrote: ↑Sat Jun 01, 2019 4:58 amBrian has a point, but he forgets that we can be jingoistic and patriotic at the same time.

You get upset at things being made in China. What about the MAGA hats which are popular? Most are made in China. How about all the other things that are made in China from TVs to PCs and beyond? More than likely you're typing on a keyboard made in China. We live in a global world. Capitalism seeks to make a profit so it seeks the cheapest labour. Doesn't worry me, overly much. That is the way of the world.

The difference is that we are continually bombarded with American culture and it's influences. Be it on the TV, the radio, at work, in school, where ever and when ever. Our own culture is drowning in an American cultural invasion. Our MSM drowns us in it.
Muslims come here and just ask to be accepted for what they are. They aren't out on the street corners preaching, they mainly aren't out there telling women how to dress in public, etc., "Nicole".
You love America, you hate Muslims. You are an Islamophobe. QED.
