that isn't very PC of me I know but apparently obesity doesn't come under Joyce's PC umbrella either. Joyce was responsible for the incident with Folau and is always sticking his nose where it doesn't belong but apparently he doesn't like fat people?
https://www.news.com.au/travel/travel-u ... 35dd0c13ffThe Civil Aviation Safety Authority provides guidelines to Qantas about safety in the emergency exit row and recommends passengers seated there are “able-bodied” and capable of helping in an emergency.
Passengers who buy seats in the exit row are asked to adhere to a range of criteria when they book.
“If passengers are unable to meet this criteria, airlines including Qantas will ask passengers to change seats,” Qantas said in a statement to news.com.au.
“Customers who purchase an exit row seat are told they must satisfy the requirements
during the booking process.”
“It made me feel really belittled. I could have helped in the emergency,” said Mr Beales.
Qantas’s website says passengers who need an “extension” belt should not be seated in the exit row, which is consistent with other Australian airlines.
Mr Beales took up the issue with Qantas’s customer service team and news.com.au understands they have reached out to him.

I AGREE cargo IS ANOTHER OPTION...LOL..
MY OPINION FOR WHAT ITS WORTH...
NO EXTENDER BELTs ISSUED IN ECONOMY
if you sat next to him in economy you would not be able to breath.... it is sad but airlines are getting very strict on luggage weight
as well they should and this guy should pay for business class.....before he kills someone...
the thought of this guy getting stuck in the exit door must be massive.....like he is...
sorry if his feelings are hurt but theres more at stake here than his fat ego.

I had a VERY large brother in law. He would have had to buy 2 seats to fly. Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer caught up with him last year. Nice and very smart guy. He owned and ran a lucrative cattle trading business. On any given day, he had between 500-1000 head of cattle. He had a dozen ranch hands to do all of the work. My middle son used to work for him.

I don't know how people can allow themselves to get like that. They must have terribly low self esteem. I have seen shows on tv where they have to enlist a crane to get them out of their homes for medical treatment.

My BIL had type 2 diabetes and he didn’t keep it in check when he was younger. His resulting health issues made exercise very difficult for him. He was also very tall. He had to tilt his head down to walk through most doors.

Re: Fat man victimised
to me if you are that large.... and lets face it this guy in the news is LARGE... no matter what he thinks !!!!its what others think that matter
if you saw someone that size sitting in front of the exit door.....I think most people would be afraid....he would only have to stand up to block people, no one in their right mind would expect this guy to move rapidly out of the doorway....
it is sad to see someone so young with such a problem..and its even more sad the airline industry has had to bring in rules like this..
but they are there for all of us.. not just Qantas..... they dont make them to punish us or anyone thats overweight..

strong seats available for fat people and of
course at an extra price -
maybe double the price.

Cods,
if they pay double price then it's fair.
