The utter stupidity
Of this stupid new law thought up by some retarded moron in the public serve us who has probably never driven a car in his / her life.
I speak of the utter stupidity of slowing to 40 klm/ hr when the plods pull someone over to book them on the freeway.
This afternoon rounding a bend, the truck in front of me locked up.
Not his fault really, it was the fault of the idiot who saw the pretty blue and red lights ahead and stood on his brakes.
The following cars all had to brake in turn even though they could not see the lights, only the nearly stopped cars in front.
Trucks weigh quite a bit
They take considerably more space to stop.
This simple physics is beyond the retards in the R&M and the sick witted morons who simply stand on their brakes in front of trucks.
So, we have a huge double bogie, suddenly bearing down on a row of cars that virtually stopped from 110 to 40
He hits his brakes, fortunately he had just enough distance and was an exceptional driver to control his truck.
Fully laden, I think the outcome woukd have been much different.
The low IQ cop, who pulled over the car on a blind corner looked up and saw copious amounts of smoke and screeching tyres headed toward him.
I hope he shite his pants, the bloody fool.
I hope the $100.00 fine was worth almost causing thousands of dollars damage and possibly killing someone.
But he probably justifies the stupidity of it by running the tired old mantra.
"I'm saving lives"
Yeah bull shite, he is raising revenue, nothing more.
This rule has to change,
It's stupid, dangerous and will kill someone.

Re: The utter stupidity
it is highly dangerous to drive at speed...past persons either at accidents or being pulled over...
maybe they need a system of an earlier alert... warning signs .
not too many get pulled over on a bend....
I know someone who worked on a road gang where it was the norm to dive at 40......he was staggered to realise almost no one came down to that speed........
I guess you have to be confronted by the danger to appreciate the need for these regulations..

Road gangs at least have some suitable warning devices.cods wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 6:13 pmit is highly dangerous to drive at speed...past persons either at accidents or being pulled over...

And yes, throw the damn book at fools screaming past road workers.
I have reviewed safety protocols around road work sites, it's terrifying when a B-double screams past at even 80 klm/he.
But the where stupidity of simply turning on the disco lights and expecting highway speeds to suddenly become 40 klm/ hr is insane.
Perhaps a much better rule needs to be applied.
Perhaps regular Lay-bys could be set up allowing cops to work in safety.
Oh, but that woukd require expenditure, and cut into the profits of the revenue raising exercise.
So the R&M have come up with a doozy or is tgat doesy of an idea.
Suddenly, when you see the disco lights, you have to slow to 40 klm/ hr.
I wonder what cerebral midget cam up with that idea?
There have been accidents, I have seen them.
But, nothing is reported to the media, or the media is being stopped from mentioning them.
It's only a matter of time before someone is killed, but that's ok.
Because the R&M have mandated a rule and what they say goes.
Let's go one step further.
Any flashing lights = 40 klm/hr
Why should tow truck drivers be any different?
The rule was not thought out, they never are.
We have some of the stupidest rules on the planet.
Imagine being fined for not locking your car?
What if it's a convertible? I'll bet they get real pissed off with all those fines.
And have you looked at the fine structure, it's on the web.
It's several times more in fine to have an obscured number plate, than it is to drive on 4 bald tyres.
Now, I may be slow, but it appears to me that bald tyre are more of a safety issue than a dirty number plate.
That is unless one considers why.
It's all about revenue generation, that's all.
And obscured number plates may cut into that revenue stream.
There is also that lovely little destruction of rights
Innocent till proven guilty.....HA
YOU have to prove it wasn't you driving your car through that faulty, inaccurate speed camera, not the other way around.
Policing for profit.....the new Australian way.

Re: The utter stupidity
Our law is a little different in TX. We must slow down to 20 mph(32 km/hr) below the posted speed limit when passing in the lane next to emergency vehicles. You can stay at the posted speed limit in the further lanes of traffic if they exist. If the speed limit is 65MPH, you have to slow down to 45MPH or get over a lane away from the cop.
And Texas just outlawed automated traffic camera tickets. The law goes into effect when the existing contracts expire. (within a year or 2)

Re: The utter stupidity
we have a lot of idiots on the roads today.. they need SIGNS up on every corner...
no commonsense whatever....
its a shame we have to make these laws......but at the end of the day THEY wouldnt make them if they were not necessary...
I mean the law isnt just for car drivers is it?.......
with a bit of luck when they make COMMONSENSE COMPULSORY... they will also include GOOD MANNERS..

Yep, its 2019 and Australian legislation is still as poorly researched, drafted and ridiculous as it always was...Valkie wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 5:52 amRoad gangs at least have some suitable warning devices.cods wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2019 6:13 pmit is highly dangerous to drive at speed...past persons either at accidents or being pulled over...

traffic rules and regulations could be compared with say, bail and parole legislation for example...
Its 2019 and they still cant get that right either....but I digress...

The legislation is a good response to dangerous situations.
Coppers however, need to be educated as to when and where they should turn their lights on when pulling a driver over. They sometimes also need to be told how to address drivers properly.
My brother got pulled over by a copper for speeding once in the Adelaide Hills. The copper got out of his care and came to his driver side window. He leant in and started talking to him. As he did so, he stuck his bum out and the next car going past actually brushed his bum. He told my brother to, "stay put" and jumped back in his car and gave chase. My brother looked 'round and just drove on, using a slightly different route to his destination.
