Not being a Sydney sider I know nothing about Sydney Metro

So Is this a whole new rail network or just an extension of the old lines, or new lines between old stations?

Sydney Metro needs new tracks and stations to accommodate the driverless trains. It includes very few 'new' stations in this first stage but all of the stations along the link needed renewing to suit the fully automated system.

Having travelled reasonably extensively.
I can say without fear of argument.

Australia has some of the worst roads
Some of the worst rail systems
And the busses are both ancient and useless.

Our roads are worse than the roads in some third world countries I have visited.
They are simply crap.
Drive from Newcastle to Sydney and you have destroyed and wheel alignment you have.
Veer off onto the backstreet and a 4x4 is required with potholes large enough to bury several politicians and more patches than a patchwork quilt convention.
My street was resurfaced 30 years ago, when they were selling the old peoples home across the road.
Has not been touched since.

Our rail system is a huge and backward joke.
We are still using the same tracks and rail corridors that were laid nearly 100 years ago.
The trains are pathetically outdated, noisy and if writhing 30 minutes of the posted time are considered on time.
In China, the rail system is so far more advanced it's embarrassing
In Japan, I got off a train only to be bowed to by several rail staff and the driver, because we were 30 seconds late.
In the UK you can get anywhere on modern , quiet and well serviced trains.
Australia is a joke.

The busses in Australia are ancient, some have done over 1 million Klm
They are slow, always late and you can have anything from freezing in winter to cooking in summer.

But.....
We have more politicians per capita than any civilized country in the world
Our politicians are higher paid with the most generous pension system than any civilized country in the world
We have an abundance of incompetent, bombastic greedy and lazy public servant bureaucrat deadbeats who couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery.

And our idiot politicians are bringing in more and more deadbeat, third world , non working parasites.

What hope do we have?
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream
