Clear win to Obama in my view. I think it will help him pull back in a lot of hilary voters, which I would have been. Also McCain aligning with the far right over the bail out will help Obama get those votes. These kind of things far out weight the fact that Palin is a woman.

Did you actually watch it or do you just like to have an opinion?

What exactly did Obama say that was the slam dunk? I think the only time he took the audience was during his grand "lets bring america back to it's place as the most respected nation in the world" set piece toward the end. In fact McCain won the debate both because it was his to begin with, being on the topic of national security where Obama's inexperience is bad and McCain's war stories run strong. But secondly because he pressed Obama over the details. Obama is a big picture guy and conveys his enthusiasm and optimism for the big picture well, but struggles to convey the finer details in language the public can understand (some would say it's just that he simply doesn't know the finer details, but I don't think that).

To be honest I'm happy for America. Both candidates are good. Not just "better-than-Bush" good but really very good.

Sarah Barracuda vs Smokin' Joe is next on the menu. I'm hoping he crushes her like Katie Couric did but Palin has underdogged her way to Governor before so I'm not so sure. Expect a lot of set pieces though.

I figured the place needed more threads. Was I wrong?

You misspelled "hiho" anyway.

I agree, this is really the best election America has had in a long time. The choice is one of the best, not lessor of two evils.

Both men are quality in different ways.

And one’s vote depends on the way one legitimately thinks the nation should go.

We have an elderly, white war veteran, a man who has sacrificed much of his life for his country and we have the a black son of a single mother who fought his way up the economic academic ladder against racial and historical odds and either man could win the election.

As to the debate, I think Obama won the economic argument (which may win the election, THAT is what matters right now in America) and Mac won the foreign policy debate.

I will vote for Mac but I can live with Obama.

If Obama wins I will wish him success and if he succeeds, I will vote for him next time around.

I really believe both of these men care about their country and the world at large.

Yep i watched it. The content of what Obama said is what got me. The way he expressed his views also- and yes that was I think a good part when he talked about improving America's image and making it again a place where anyone has a chance of success by improving education. I also thought he spoke much better on Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. He also maintained a calmness and sense of purpose and he didn't abuse Mccain, although he did refer to his senate record, i thought very aptly a couple of times. . I think Mccain looked bad always trying to put down Obama - I mean- he said after Obama stated very sensibly I thought and calmly his position on the Russia Georgia situation- that Obama had shown he didn't understand that Russia had aggressively invaded another nation. Someone is not necessarily stupid if they do not agree with your interpretation of events. I think Obama was right on the ball with his comments. And McCain's own were not. And further you don't win a debate by calling your opponent stupid, even if that was a tactic for AM, Cyn, Frogen (at times) and various others on PA.

The other thing was that I think the debate clearly revealed that Obama is a Democrat candidate and McCain very much a right winger. The differing values were very apparent and i guess that is also what got me on board.

This should be great!

We have fertile hockey mom versus senator say what-ever-comes-to mind.

This will be the greatest debate in US history.

Ego Joe will wax lyrical about the beauty of Palin’s tits and expound how both she and Hilary would make better VP choices than he and Palin will threaten America with the horrible specter that Putin may hand glide over Alaska some day and that if Mac is not elected the polar bears (who have no right to be endangered) will take control of Alaska.

This is going to be great TV!

I think they should make a series out of this debate, ‘Ego Joe and Ms, Moose Killer.’

30 minutes into the debate (on now) Biden is impressive; Palin, a small town mayor trying hard. Still plenty of time for a Biden-blunder ...

What is it with American politicians and the word "nuclear?" Commonly it is mispronounced "nu-clur," like Palin just said twice.

Palin: "EYE-ran," "EYE'-raq" I am waiting for her to say "EYE-talian."
