Despite what you may believe, Neferti, there is more to being an Indigenous Australian than just ticking a box. The box is there for statistical purposes only. It does not confer any greater powers or any greater benefits. To be counted as an Indigenous Australian requires acceptance from other Indigenous Australians who identify you as being indigenous. So, that is a hurdle that most people who you describe as "faux Indigenes" cannot mount.

I have already stated I don't, "Nicole". Why should I? I hate Sydney with a passion because of it's climate - far too sub-tropical for me. I hate the tropics and all areas around them. I am too much an Adelaide boy - hot and dry.

Couldn't agree more, "Nicole". Indigenous Australians are full Australian citizens, they deserve the same respect as all other Australians. The NT Police have a long history of abusing Indigenous prisoners. Just look at the Don Dale Detention Centre scandal.
