Some of the caches they show us that have been seized in customs Sydney are HUGE and the ones that are seized are only a very small portion of what actually gets through. Then there is our vast coastline as Billy mentioned.
In Sydney they are brought in by the Lebs and the Asians. Where they get them from I have no clue. I read awhile ago that a lot have come from Syria and similar war zones.

Re: Melbourne Crime Watch
Every state has the power to change the legislation, Cods. The Commonwealth has also passed gun control legislation and it's legislation tops the states'.
Guns are smuggled in usually as part of drug shipments. Usually they are pistols because they are small and easier to hide. Then we have the mail system which has been used to occasionally bring in gun parts, which are then illegally assembled.seems to me not a whole lot is done about gun ownership...how the hell do they get into this country?...
can dogs sniff out guns?....
I feel like they have taken their eyes off the ball with guns...
we did have a buy back we have had one or two amnesties...but still the streets are full of them..
we do something about drugs... yet it appears to me more people die from guns than drugs in this country.
We have more legally owned guns now than we did before Port Arthur. However, they are usually bolt-action or multi-barrelled shotguns whereas before, they were often semi-automatic longarms and pump-action shotguns. They were both outlawed by the UFL (Universal Firearms Legislation) except for use by holders of Class C firearms licenses. The ownership conditions were tightened as well, with self-defence no longer being considered an adequate reason to be given a firearms license. No one without a firearms license can purchase a firearm legally. All owners of firearm licenses must be a member of a firearms club or association..
Guns are despite what the MSM might portray them to be, relatively rare in most crimes. Guns are expensive to purchase illegally and are often "rented" out to criminals by other criminals for a particular job. The use of a firearm usually incurs a longer sentence if the criminal is found guilty of using it.

It sounds to me like only the criminals have guns. I've also noticed that anytime an innocent person defends themselves with a gun in Australia, they end up behind bars. Better judged by 12 than carried by 6, but that sucks.
Texans justifiably kill more criminals than police almost every year, and the criminals never commit another crime. Texans are allowed to use deadly force to prevent rape, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and arson. You are also allowed to use deadly force on anybody who forcefully enters an occupied house or vehicle. Over 1.3M Texans carry concealed firearms, including my wife and myself. A thief tried to force his way into the wrong car after fleeing from a botched shoplifting in my town last week. He'll live, but there are no charges against the guy who was just defending his family. I suspect the initial "argument" was him assisting the Walmart employees, who were chasing the guy for shoplifting.

I like my gun laws. They make sense to me. Even if we didn't have our military, who would even think of invading us. I see Mexico, where guns are illegal. The people are caught between the cartels and the corrupt police and military. I don't want that spreading over my border.

most Mexicans would be dead if they were armed like Americans....get real....people dont prevent WARS govts and armies do......
if you believe owning a gun protects you....I hope you never have to put it too the test,,

It's a different culture Cods and imo you can't compare it. We don't have the same history. We are a new country and we haven't had to fight off invading hordes to keep our country our own and we haven't lived through civil wars ... yet. Imagine if for hundreds of years we had to fight off invading Indonesians? I don't think Howard would have had a chance in hell at taking our guns away.
Right now the only people with guns here are the criminals and they have lots of guns and keep using them.
