I thought that was a prerequisite to being a politician.

I would like to debunk the most egregious Labor lie of the election campaign so far. They claim that they will reverse the "coalition's penalty rates cuts". Leave aside the promise to address the issue, which should be taken with a large table spoon of salt. What about the claim that the Coalition cut penalty rates? Anyone who has not been living under a rock for the past 6 years will immediately recognise the lie, but since the media is not calling this out, I will state some facts and the reader can be the judge.
Question 1. Who decided that penalty rates in some industries should be cut?
Answer: The Fair Work Commission.
Question 2: Who created the Fair Work Commission?
Answer: Labor.
Question 3: Who appointed the five judges to the Fair work commission who made this decision?
Answer: Labor.
Question 4: who asked the Fair Work Commission to review penalty rates in the first place?
Answer: Labor.
Question 5: Who said on multiple occasions prior to the 2013 election that he would respect the decisions of the Fair Work Commission?
Answer: Bill Shorten.
Question 6: who did secret deals with employers to trade away penalty rates for some of his lowest paid members in exchange for a donation to his 2007 election campaign?
Answer: Bill Shorten.
Question 7: who forgot to declare the aforementioned donation until he was caught out 7 years later by the Trade Union Royal Commission?
Answer: Bill Shorten.

The promise is also fundamentally flawed. If Labor undermine the independence of the Fair Work Commission on penalty rates, what confidence can we have that any of its other decisions will be respected?

I say, whenever you hear this flagrantly dishonest message being promoted by Bill shorten, Tanya pliberseck and others, throw these facts in their faces. Australia deserves better. Don't reward their lies with your votes.
