In Australia, since before Federation, women were accorded the right to vote, Black Orchid. In South Australia, women had the vote from 1861 in local elections and in Parliamentary elections from 1895. In 1901, in all the states women were accorded the full franchise. Indigenous Australians were only accorded the right to vote in Federal Elections (they always had the right to vote in South Australia since settlement in 1839) in 1967 after a referendum allowed them to be counted in the Census, made them full citizens and accorded them the full franchise...
