More Shorten Lies

Post by Black Orchid » Sun Apr 21, 2019 3:10 pm

Bill Shorten’s climate change policy will cost the Australian economy at least $60bn more than the Coalition’s targets by 2030, according to the author of the report Labor used to draft its policy.

Economist Warwick McKibbin told News Corp Australia he prepared his report — the centrepiece of the Labor Party policy — in 2015 under the Abbott Government.

And Dr McKibbin warned Shorten would not be able to meet his financial promises without buying controversial carbon offsets from overseas, if they proved economically viable or were even available to purchase.

For seven days running, Shorten has failed to explain the costings of his climate change plan.
“The critical question is what will the price of offsets be in 2030? We don’t know that. There are a lot of ifs and buts here,” he said.

“If you double the target reduction you’re going to more than double the cost of getting there under the same set of policies.”

Labor may also face a hurdle in accessing offshore carbon credits, as Australian Greens climate change spokesman Adam Bandt said the party planned to block their use.
They’ve been likened to “paying someone else to go on a diet for you while you stay at home eating burgers and pizzas,” but buying carbon credits could be a key piece of Australia’s future climate policy.

It emerged this week that Labor would have to purchase foreign carbon offsets to limit the cost of meeting its climate policy targets and to match the price of the Coalition’s policy.

Labor has committed to reducing Australia’s carbon emissions by 45 per cent by 2030, while the Coalition has promised a reduction of 26 to 28 per cent.

But carbon credits are controversial, with Australian Greens spokesman Adam Bandt revealing plans to block their use, and likening them to a diet undertaken by someone else.

................ Labor's proposed changes to superannuation will scrap the imputation tax credit rebate for anyone not receiving the aged pension. What does this mean?

It means that 1.1 million Australians who have spent their life working hard in order to save for retirement will be worse off.
It means that 610,000 retirees on the lowest annual incomes will lose an average of $1200 per year, money they need desperately in order to not be forced onto the aged pension or supported by family members.
It means that self-funded retirees will need an extra 9% in their superannuation fund in order to retire with the same income.
It means that thousands of retirees will be forced to rely on the aged pension, placing an even bigger strain on Australian taxpayers.
It means that self funded retirees will be double taxed .........

There is absolutely no logic to this. None at all. It's an act of total stupidity.

Palmer is not an independent and I cannot stand the man but he still has some good policies. He wants to stop the selling of our ports, airports, infrastructure etc to foreign bodies. I absolutely and totally agree with this.

He also claims on his policy page that Australian pensioners are paid less per fortnight than asylum seekers. If this is true it is an absolute DISGRACE!!
“Currently Australian pensioners are paid less than what asylum seekers are paid a fortnight. This is a disgrace and by increasing the aged pension by 20 per cent the Palmer United Party will provide pensioners with an additional $150 a fortnight"
Pensions are never going to be increased by 20% but if the rest is correct it's a case of both major parties working AGAINST us and to our detriment. Voting for either one is just substantiating their theft and contempt of the Australian people.

Hey, Cods! I have always voted Liberal ... except 2016 when I got my name marked off and wrote something rude on the ballot about turncoats.

IF I don't vote for the Liberals, I will either not vote at all (and pay the 20 bucks) or vote informal, again.

There is NO WAY I would vote for an independent (or Labor/Greens) ever!

UNLESS Morrison comes up with "less immigration" and scraps the "climate change" stuff and various other things he is just Turnbull-lite ... he NEEDS to get the MILLION CONSERVATIVE VOTERS back and then he WILL win.
