It took several hundred years for the West to develop into a society where universal education and rising standards of living and also social standards became the norm, and only in the last 100 years or so has that actually begun to bear fruit with a more educated and (once upon a time) more civilised society, where people were treated as something more than serfs and scum to be discarded at will.

Now our governments are turning back the clock by flooding Australia with more people than it can reasonably handle.. an increase from 20 million to 25 million in a few years is never going to do anything but over-stretch everything, from housing to incomes, to jobs, to crime control, to equality, to prosperity for all on a reasonably even keel,and to social and moral standards.
