Well, if he is as smart as you have proclaimed, "Nicole", I would hope he wouldn't get shot down (I assume he is going to be a pilot?). I would hope though, that if he was called upon to sacrifice his life to save the lives of oppressed people, he'd do his duty and step up to the plate. Military people have this concept which you appear to be rather dismissive of. It's called "honour". Look it up, you might find it illuminating.
