The point is, Black Orchid, they are not universal, right across the whole population of the US, whereas in Norway/Sweden/etc., they are. Get back when you've worked out what that means, OK?

NO paid parental leave means NO paid parental leave universally.

NO paid vacation per year means NO paid vacation per year universally.

Misrepresentation Brian. Lies Brian. Tsk tsk. Get back to us when you have figured that out

Maternity leave in the United States is regulated by US labor law. For the majority of US workers there is no right to paid or unpaid leave to care for a new child or recover from childbirth. The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (FMLA) requires 12 weeks of unpaid leave annually for mothers of newborn or newly adopted children if they work for a company with 50 or more employees.

Fancy not understanding that socially - ie, within society - you can compare different societies...

Although the United States does not guarantee paid maternity leave, employers may provide paid leave if they choose. There are three states in the United States that do provide paid maternity leave and they are California, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. Mothers usually share baby care with their husbands
Which makes your argument wrong. There may not be as much paid parental leave as you self entitled grabbers would like but the fact is that there IS paid parental leave in the US.

The blanket statement ... There is NO paid parental leave in the US ... is wrong, just as I said. Rolls your eyes back to you.

It was only nationally introduced here in 2011 and it's not something that I necessarily agree with. You only have to have worked just over 1 day a month for the past 10 months to be eligible for it. Another ALP initiative to throw taxpayer away money.

No doubt the concept of personal negotiation is beyond Bri Bri.

He isn't able to document or argue what his value would be to an employer, simply because he has none. Likely to not even able to provide a benefit close to his operational costs and a drain on available company resources to the detriment of other workers. Highly likely to try and agitate the employee/employer relationship, so it's no wonder he demands what he doesn't deserve, enshrined as a gunpoint enforced "right".
