In East Hills, about three-quarters of the votes have been counted and it's looking like a nail-biter. At the moment the Liberals are ahead and our prediction is they'll wind up on 50.7 per cent.

The Labor Party is just ahead in Lismore and is predicted to end on 51.7 per cent. Nearly 80 per cent of votes have been counted.

Antony Green says there aren't preference counts for Dubbo prepolls, but if the polling day preference flows apply to those, then the Nationals are "probably home". They're currently sitting on 50.3 per cent with two-thirds counted. This is significant because a win here would mean the Berejiklian Government reaches 47 seats and secure a majority.

That's where we'll leave the live blog for today. There are still so many questions. Will the Nats be safe in Dubbo? Will there be a leadership challenge against Michael Daley? Was last night's catering still good to eat today?

We'll hopefully find out in coming days.

In the meantime, you can check out all of the results on our election home page.

Who is the National Party?

What do they stand for?

What have they done in recent times for the Farmers and Country folk?

Why do China and the US have the biggest shares in Australian Water Rights? (see post in General)

Shooters, Fishers and Farmers party is gaining traction because the National party has forgotten about them.

Also One Nation as Pauline Hanson has flown all over outback Australia talking to Farmers and Communites about their concerns.

No one else cares - see the electoral boundaries and you will see that most of the seats are within and around Big Cities.

That’s all the Major Parties care about.

See Clive Palmer video I posted.

Errr, the reason why all the electorates are centred around the major cities is because of equal representation rules. Under the House of Representatives, the electorates must near be equal in population size. If you have more electorates in the Regional/Rural areas, each with fewer electors than the cities, you end up with a Gerrymander and we all know how well that worked in Queensland under Joh, now don't we?

Brian - How is that Equalisation when one city controls what the rest of the State does.

For instance - a 5% total area controls what happens to the other 95% of the Area of the state?

When >95% of the population lives in a capital city, then in a democracy, the other 5% learns they don't have much of a voice, Serial. If you need the principles of democracy explained to you, give me call.

We have seen what happens when the country controls the city, in Queensland, under Sir Joh. Now, how did that work out, hey? Yeah, real well.

all major parties have lost their way lost their identity .. lost their grass roots..

its time they all woke up to that...farmers cant be left to deal with drought a floods alone....its shameful of us to think they can.

we give them a hand out here and there after they go cap in hand .. even relying on charity....

as a food producing country we need to do better...

and yes I believe we can afford to do better....

we are a greedy lot we want everything but we dont want to pay for it..

.if we can pay less for a tin of peaches cheaper when its imported thats what we buy...

shame on us..

The idiot Daley even breached their own suppression order by saying he would challenge for the leadership.
