But i think Pell has already admitted shifting paedophiles from one church to another when they were in trouble. He need to go to jail on that alone.
I am certainly not condoning what the Catholic church did but shuffling around offenders from one church to the other has also been mimicked by the public school system over the course of many years.

If teachers did something terrible they were never sacked. They were just 'transferred'.

I have just read the evidence against Pell in Bolts report in the Sun and based on that evidence, and that of the testimony of others - i would say he was not guilty of that crime - or at least, based on the evidence, its not strong enough for a conviction.

Other accusers of Pell over the years have been flat out lying as well and when found out dropped their cases.

Pell has been vilified by the Press over the years and maybe people think that this could be an easy meal ticket for them. I don’t know.

But if Bolt is right, and gets a fair hearing when he appeals, i think the case will be overturned.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Then there was this ...
Witnesses familiar with liturgical vestments had been called who gave compelling evidence that it was impossible to produce an erect penis through a seamless alb. An alb is a long robe, worn under a heavier chasuble. It is secured and set in place by a cincture which is like a tightly drawn belt. An alb cannot be unbuttoned or unzipped, the only openings being small slits on the side to allow access to trouser pockets underneath. The complainant’s initial claim to police was that Pell had parted his vestments, but an alb cannot be parted; it is like a seamless dress.

Later, the complainant said that Pell moved the vestments to the side. An alb secured with a cincture cannot be moved to the side. The police never inspected the vestments during their investigations, nor did the prosecution show that the vestments could be parted or moved to the side as the complainant had alleged. The proposition that the offences charged were committed immediately after Mass by a fully robed Archbishop in the sacristy with an open door and in full view from the corridor seemed incredible to my mind.

some times the media play a huge part in court outcomes....

just reading what one or two members here are saying....in such a short time.. is enough to know
the printed word can make people make outrageous claims.....

Hanging seems to be the order of the say....

the louts shouting out as he left court were I am sure the usual suspects....very brave of them..

if .. and I dont say it lightly this man is truly guilty of this crime..

he has paid a massive price thus far....and thats without JAIL...

I personally would have hoped under these extraordinary circumstance....him being dragged back from Rome...

.had there been truth in the matter he would have fallen on his sword and saved the Vatican from this court ordeal....why were the other charges withdrawn?..

I like a lot on here am at two minds about Pells guilt.

But I also wonder why someone who was a choir boy with Pell at that time would make up a story like this with no-one else to corroborate his evidence knowing full well he would face extreme questioning by the best lawyers in Oz.

Looking for money from the church perhaps ?

The other supposed victim apparently denied it happened and is now dead, so what prompted the coppers to go ahead after that?

what little I know about these predators ONCE is not enough....

I am not convinced..
Agreed, Cods. I haven't seen what Bolt said, so can't comment but he is entitled to his opinion like we all are.

I think I will await the result of the appeal before commenting!

I was rather horrified hear all the abuse being screamed at him entering the court today when as far as I am concerned cool heads should prevail until the court process is completed
Agreed. Guilty by Media? Who knows.

I am not convinced either and I have reservations.

All this on one person's word. The other choir boy in question flatly denied ever being sexually abused. He is now dead so cannot testify.

Pell voluntarily returned to Australia to face trial. He didn't have to do that. He could have stayed in Italy forever. He has also always vehemently denied the allegations.

The ONE witness kept saying “He said this” followed by “or perhaps he said that”. No consistency.

None of the other choir boys had any clear recollection of any of this. Parents said there was a strict discipline involved and someone would have noticed two fully robed choir boys running off from the procession. No-one did.

The claim that he 'parted his vestments' has been proven to be implausible because of the construction of such a gown.

Paedophiles are habitual. Not just a one off.

I have no doubts that Pell may be guilty of other offences, more plausibly cover-ups, but of actually physically assaulting this choir boy? I have considerable reservations. Which is probably why Pell volunteered to come here for trial, which he did not have to do.

I will wait for the appeal.
I agree with everything you have said.
