The moon is "tide locked" with one always facing Terra.

Because it is "tide locked" - what ever sideal motion it once had, has gone over the milleania since it was formed by breaking off from Terra.

The far side of the Moon is the hemisphere of the Moon that always faces away from Earth. Both sides of the Moon experience two weeks of sunlight followed by two weeks of night; the far side is sometimes called the "dark side of the Moon", meaning unseen rather than lacking light

Observers on Earth might notice that the moon essentially keeps the same side facing our planet as it passes through its orbit. This may lead to the question, does the moon rotate?
