A 22-month-old boy who could not be revived was found inside a car in Sydney's west on a sweltering day after family noticed he wasn't in their house.

Police are investigating whether a toddler died after accidentally being left in a hot car at a home in Sydney's west.

Emergency services were called to the home in Chester Hill on Sunday afternoon to reports a 22-month-old boy had been found unresponsive.

Paramedics were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police were told the child was found inside a car at the front of the residence by family members when he could not be found inside the home.

The Daily Telegraph reports the boy was left in the car for several hours, with temperatures reaching 34C.

Firstly, how can you just leave a toddler in a car?

Secondly, how can you not notice a toddler is missing for SEVERAL HOURS??

No excuses! It's the worst kind of neglect.

Cods, I'll continue this here because I know the Ozpol thread will get contaminated.

The level of neglect required to leave a one year old child in a car for 2 hours is unlikely to be a one of.

It was a twin, how could she possibly not wonder where the other one was?

You're a mum and a gran? What's the longest you've not know where a 1 year old child is?

I just read the poor boy was 22m, same as mine :(

He was a twin, how on earth could you not know were a child that age is for more than 10 seconds. Wouldn't the other twin be a reminder?

Neglect and I would be surprised if it was not the first incident.

I thought that about the twin thing too. Wouldn't you wonder where the other one was?

I still cannot comprehend how you can not realise a toddler is missing for SEVERAL HOURS!
