New record Australian Government debt

Post by The Mechanic » Mon Feb 04, 2019 6:43 am

New record Australian Government debt: $540.83 billion.

Increased by $1.3 billion this week.

When exactly did the ALP & the LNP stop serving the people of Australia.
I don't want Governments splashing money everywhere next election...

what I want to hear them say .... is how they are going to pay back this debt...

The Australian debt clock says $680 billion.

It's a disgrace.

It's a WORRY is what it is and it's even more of a worry what will happen to it when Bill gets in.

They don't care
Their pensions are guaranteed and indexed for inflation.

A pox on them all.

Exactly ... but don't they have to have been an MP or Senator for a certain length of time before they receive their "guaranteed" Pension? Surely they can't just get elected and do a couple of years, resign and still get the Pension?

Not sure

But a few years ago there was a discussion about has bad it was that any politician who has "served" the country, should not have to live as a pauper.

They were working on changing some rules.

Probably got passed very quietly.

"Somebody" will know ... it just occurred to me that there's an awful lot of people wanting to be "Independents", come the next Federal Election .... could it be that they have plans to feather their own nests (and retirement) and aren't really interested in working for The Public? :meet

No politician works for the public, at any level of the grubberment.

Local politicians get in so that they can manipulate the local areas and allow them to change things to their advantage.
IE they want some areas re-zoned so they can make more money.

Federal and state politicians all have agendas.
Generally working so that their sponsors can make a fortune and feed them bribes ( donations)

They are lobbied by ex-politicians who now work for multinationals and big business.
These cockroaches, bribe, blackmail and otherwise fiddle the politicians to get deals for their masters.

Politicians are all scum.
Senior public servants are generally worse.

We all complain about the politicians obscene pensions
What most people do not realise is tgat they are the tip of the iceberg

Judges, senior public servants and a plethora of other parasites, who could all live comfortably off their savings, are getting pension as big as or bigger that what the pollies take home.

There are thousands of them, continually sucking the hit dry.

Australia is screwed, but they have made it near impossible to leave and take your savings with you.
