Victoria Police confirmed on Saturday morning that Herrmann, 20, had been on bail for what they described as property related matters.

"As the man is currently in custody in relation to the Bundoora homicide investigation and the matter will ultimately be before the Coroner, we are unable to make any further comments at this stage," a police spokeswoman said.

Methinks

Give the guy to the parents and a truly talented sociopath for a few months.

And ensure that there is a full medical team on standby to keep bringing him back to life.

Yep, sounds like a plan

"Property related matters"? Burglary? Vandalism?

It says on another forum from an unreliable source:
I think it might have had something to do with him stepping in front of a tram,
going nuts and then getting pepper sprayed.

The young man accused of raping and murdering international student Aiia Maasarwe will remain behind bars until his next court appearance in June.

The Melbourne Magistrates Court heard it was 20-year-old Codey Herrmann’s first time in custody and he could be vulnerable due to his age and Aboriginal heritage.

No application for bail was made but a request to obtain Mr Herrmann’s DNA was withdrawn.

“I note you are an Aboriginal person and you may be vulnerable because of your age and appearance, this being your first time in custody,” Magistrate Jon Klestadt said.
