Zimbabwe's riots

Post by sprintcyclist » Fri Jan 18, 2019 12:36 am

The US embassy in Zimbabwe says it is "alarmed" by credible reports that security forces are targeting and beating activists and labour leaders. A local doctors' rights group says it has treated 68 gunshot cases.

The US statement on Thursday also urges Zimbabwe's government to restore access to social media as the country faces its worst unrest since deadly post-election violence in August. Zimbabweans this week heeded a nationwide stay-at-home call after the government dramatically increased fuel prices in the economically shattered country.

Prominent pastor and activist Evan Mawarire is currently in court in the capital, Harare, accused of inciting violence. Zimbabwe's state security minister has said more than 600 people have been arrested.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa while traveling overseas has denounced what he called "wanton violence and cynical destruction".

since the racist Blacks took over this country it has gone to the dogs with the Blacks putting through law (if not done already) to take farms off White folk without compensation.

some white SAs were leaving

some of them staying and arming themselves

this is not going to end well :sad

You do know that Zimbabwe is not part of the Republic of South Africa, don't you, Serial?

You are aware that the present President of Zimbabwe - Emmerson Mnangagwa - has reversed the previous Government's decision to confiscate white owned farms and return the land that had previously been confiscated to it's white owners?

You are aware that the present riots are over the cost of Petrol which has risen 150% since Emmerson Mnangagwa came to power?

I suspect that the present predicament was caused by a lack of foreign exchange which was required for Zimbabwe to purchase it's fuel from overseas sources. A problem no doubt caused by Robert Mugabe's mismanagement of the economy during his rule.

Zimbabwe was always a very fertile country and YET.

If you are a Zimbabwean ambassador for investment, how does an investor take you seriously to promote tourism, industrialisation, transport and logistics, among others if there is no fuel to power the wheels of the economy?
*
Apart from basic things like diesel and petrol, Zimbabwe suffers from shortages – all the time. Cooking oil, mealie meal, bread, soap, sugar, stationery, basic groceries are extremely difficult to find, as the shops are empty.

There is no medicine in the hospitals, the roads are full of potholes, municipalities collapsed years ago, sewage systems are blocked, there is no water in the taps, Harare and Bulawayo can go for months without water or electricity.

Life in Zimbabwe is like that. No Coca-Cola, no beer, no Christmas cheer.

So fuel alone is just one story.

At least 90 percent of Zimbabweans are unemployed, the economy itself is largely an informal economy.

But the biggest problem with Zimbabwe today is the shortage of one thing that makes everything work. Money.

I dont know about the money issue..

if I was in charge I would be handing out shovels and seeds to plant....feed thyself.....it works sometimes..

I'm all for a ZERO AID RULE

No aid for any country

Survive on what you have
Or
Die off naturally as you should when you overpopulated and are too primitive to advance.

Simple
I'm sick of sending money to backward bludgers who do nothing but breed.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream
