Potential building collapse

Post by Black Orchid » Mon Dec 24, 2018 5:44 pm

This is what happens when you build on toxic and unstable ground.
A 30-storey residential tower in Sydney has been evacuated after residents reported hearing “cracking noises” throughout the morning.

An emergency services operation is under way after residents reported hearing “cracking noises” at a 30-storey building at Sydney Olympic Park

Concerns were raised for the Opal Tower on Brushbox Street about 2.45pm this afternoon, with occupants telling police they heard the worrying noises throughout the morning.

A police operation is under way at Australia Avenue off Bennelong Parkway.

Fire and Rescue NSW are working to evacuate people from the building.

A spokesman told The Daily Telegraph they had brought specialist rescue equipment to the scene and were using laser monitors to track the building’s movement.

This pure greed of trying to cram as many people into Sydney as they can will ultimately be a huge problem, more than it is now. They are building these units on anything. I am sure the residents are thrilled to death on Christmas Eve.

Yes. It hasn't crashed yet but over 350 units have been evacuated. Everywhere around Homebush and Olympic Park is a very unstable area and it's also highly toxic ground.

I'll bet Indians built it with cheap Chinese Labour and cheap materials.

Doing some planning and building myself at the moment.

It seems that if you are a company of any sort you can nearly do what you like - as in, take short cuts.

But as an independent builder and/or owner builder you have to spend months jumping through all sorts of hoops.

Its like an unfair playing field. Like the local councils are scared of the bigger bullly companies but then the councils themselves bully the small companies or individuals themselves.

If this Building collapses then people need to be charged and thrown in jail.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Yes, someone approved it, someone signed off on the building inspections

It must have been approved by the council.

And councils are all so honest and responsible, aren't they?

did you see the picture of some on the damage inside.?? seems odd some have been allowed back in not sure if I would be happy with that..another wild storm in Sydney and I would be out of there....

assuming the same builder has built other towers... as a council I would be more than worried..
