I learned many years ago that when you fight someone

It is never, ever a fair fight
The other guy is bigger, a better fighter, meaner, has others with him, carries a weapon or any of a number of reasons that he will expect to win or he woukd not fight you.

So you have to either fight like him
Cheat, use a bigger, better or meaner weapon.
Have more mates, or
Simply sneak up behind him, when he isn't expecting it, and clobbering him
