All that would do, would be to force the potential Terrorists out in the suburbs, to the local shopping centres away from the City centre, Black Orchid. It'd save the Tories' Politicians but it wouldn't save all that many people IMHO.

Most of the Terrorist suspects are Australian citizens, Cods. It is not possible to "simply give them their passports and make them go." Where do they go? No other country wants this problem and rightly so. Australia cannot just "wash it's hands" of these people and expect other nation's to accept them and pick up the tab. The world does not work that way.

What we need is more rigorous Islamic teaching - to guide these Islamists away from their path of violence. Most people who undergo rigorous religious instruction become less, not more violent. The problem with the Islamists is that they have been given bad religious instruction in the wrong aspects of Islam. Just as many Christian Terrorists have been given the wrong instructions in Christianity. It is all about interpretation.

I would think a GPS tacking device would cover a vaster area than just the CBD. It's a start until someone sensible stands up and says ... ENOUGH IS ENOUGH and puts them on the next plane to wherever.

Three men arrested in Melbourne’s northwest this morning over an alleged terror plot were planning to kill as many people as possible in a crowded place, police say.

Officers detained the trio as part of a joint counter-terror operation and say they recently tried to get a .22 semi-automatic rifle for the attack.

Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said the plan had escalated over recent weeks.

“Certainly it’s our view that, whilst a specific location … was not finalised, there was a view towards a crowded place, a place where maximum people would be attending, to be able, to kill, we allege, as maximum an amount of people as possible,” he said.

Police have been investigating them since March.

Those three had their passports cancelled too in order to stop them going overseas to fight with IS.

Ludicrous. Let them go and THEN cancel their passports. How hard is that?
