Labor's $160M Plebiscite

Post by Black Orchid » Sun Nov 11, 2018 3:23 pm

Labor has plans for an $160 million national plebiscite on the issue of Australia becoming a republic in its first term of government.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten has approved the funding plan for a public ballot, not a postal vote, in parliament's next term, Fairfax Media reports.

Labor spokesman for an Australian head of state Matt Thistlethwaite says the issue probably isn't a top priority for the average Australian right now and he understands that.

"We're not saying it's the most important issue but we are saying that if we are elected at the next election, it's one of the issues that Labor will attempt to deal with during our first term," he told Fairfax.

Yes, we should stop the foreign head of state from arriving on our shores! Bloody immigrant Royals! Grrrrr!

Reads like another media beatup to me, Black Orchid. You just want to believe and post the absolute worst about the ALP 'cause you're afraid they will win the next election.

wassup bwian, got nothing of real value to add to the debate eh? How unusual of a Prog Lefty like yourself.

It is decades passed time we had a real discussion about Australia its population and its makeup.

Wassup bwian don't like "white" people?

So, they promise to waste $160M of our money in advertising to push their idea of a different style of governance.
They say this as though it is a good idea.

Anyone else want them to spend $160 M of our taxes on such an idea?

What a joke Shortarse is. I wonder what other wondrous stuff he will drag out before the Election is announced! He can't wait to get his hands on OUR money, obviously, and will go off spending like a drunken sailor, as Labor always does.

Immigration? - we'd never have a plebiscite on something we care about.

They are afraid to bring up the real problem on everyone's lips

THE MUZZO MENACE

If any political part were brave enough to have a referendum on muzzos and immigration, they would walk in

But the apologists all over the world would give the poor little dears a hard time.

So much better to hide and ignore the problem
