Rounds down range is only one measure of firearms knowledge. I have seen gun nuts make so many dangerous mistakes on ranges that it still terrifies me to think about them. It is why I refused to go on a range where civvie shooters where firing at the same time as the Army was. I suspect Flektarn likes to waltz 'round with his loaded gun in his pocket, showing off to all the girls and boys how big it is...
Probably ex army guys,

Yeah, listen to him. He hates guns and doesn't approve gun usage by civilians but he was in the army. Right. Every vet I know has a gun for self-defense. What a liar and a complete pussy, Brian O'Connor is.BigP wrote: ↑Thu Nov 08, 2018 6:50 pmbrian ross wrote: ↑Thu Nov 08, 2018 6:45 pmI don't need you to teach me anything, matey. I spent 10 years in the Australian Army. I was first and foremost an Infantryman, a rifleman. Run along, back to your Wild West society and lets see you fix it up first and foremost before you come Downunder, OK?

I would be surprised if that was the case Brian
Most enthusiastic recreational shooters would fire more rounds than your average army boffin,,
A few years back we had the local cops come down to the north Auckland deer stalkers range to do a little handgun practice, we organised a little comp, We cleaned them up and and we dont use handguns ,

Run along, Flektarn. Most Australian Army people hate civilians with guns. They are perceived as a mob of ill-disciplined, dangerous people for the most part. Run along back to your little kiddies' playground where you can insult and bitch to your heart's content. Tut, tut, what a WAFTM.

Wrong. I have Australian and American friends, ex-Vets and some of them still active.I actually have an Aussie buddy who carries a huge knife even if it's illegal in Australia.

Lucky you. I know many ex-Army people, as I am one myself. None of them like civilian gun or knife nuts. Could it be because they are more mature that those who feel the need for a weapon to protect themselves in our peaceful (relatively) law-abiding society downunder?

Tell that to the guy in America who just killed 11 people.brian ross wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 3:57 pmLucky you. I know many ex-Army people, as I am one myself. Again, it's not the weapon, it's the idiot holding it that does the damage.
I know both ex soldiers and civvies who own guns
Its as much as a much when they handle their guns.
You can't say all civvies are useless or dangerous with guns
And you can't say all ex army are perfect with guns.
That is against all your arguments against all muzzos being terrorists.
I personally don't like guns, and I have and never will own one.
But I have used them to shoot pigs and roos.
Not exactly what it call sport, the poor animals don't stand a chance.
I prefer bows
And yes, I'm a knife nut, as you put it.
I have quite a collection, including fighting and throwing knives.
I trained for years in the use of knives and all of my knives are razor sharp.
And the way people abuse knives is criminal.
The training given to our troops is less than adequate in knife fighting, most woukd be better off with a club.

As an aside, not everyone with a gun or with knife training is necessarily a "gun nut" or a "knife nut" and I have never heard military or ex-military wantonly use that term.

Oh, I agree, not all are "gun nuts" or "knife nuts", Black Orchid. Many are responsible, law-abiding firearms and knife owners. Flektarn however fits squarely into the nut group. He believes guns and knives are all that stand between him and his fellow Wild Westerners. He believes he needs such weapons to prove his manhood. Not to worry, most Australians don't. Indeed, I'd suggest the overwhelming majority are dismissive of his sort of nuttery.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Fri Nov 09, 2018 5:23 pmAs an aside, not everyone with a gun or with knife training is necessarily a "gun nut" or a "knife nut" and I have never heard military or ex-military wantonly use that term.
