Some Common Sense re China

Post by Black Orchid » Wed Nov 07, 2018 6:49 pm

A Federal Liberal MP has suggested a Chinese and Hong Kong based consortium hoping to buy large swathes of the nation's gas pipelines could allay national security concerns by committing to invest in the sector, as security analysts urge the government to block the deal.

The Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) is considering the CK consortium's $13 billion bid for APA Group, which owns tens of thousand of kilometres of pipelines, gas mains, storage facilities and processing plants across the country.

Some of the companies in the CK consortium were blocked, along with China's state grid owner, from purchasing Ausgrid, the owner of New South Wales' electricity poles and wires, over national security concerns.

The company already has significant financial interests in Australia, including in SA Power Networks.

Peter Jennings from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute argued any takeover would give CK control of around 70 per cent of the nation's critical energy infrastructure.

First 5G and now this. The government blocked this today thank God. I wonder if Shorty would have just taken the money?

Way, way back (1990s), predicted that China would become more powerful than the USA. Nobody believed me.

That will only happen if idiot countries like Australia keep selling them our infrastructure and land. You can understand the smaller places like Vanuatu wanting the money but our politicians need to wake up and keep what we have for Australians.

Militarily China could never defeat the US.

I was in Dan Murphys yesterday getting a carton of Woodstocks to put down in the garage. On really hot days I put some in the freezer until they are like shaved ice.

I was at the checkout being served and this really scruffy Chinese woman came in and actually pushed me aside. She just kept huskily yelling "beer", "beer" and thrusting some piece of paper in the young guys face. Anyway he tried to deal with her which irritated me and he got back to business checking the Woodies on his machine as he was already serving me before she barged in.

Then she comes back! "BEER", "BEER", "BEER".

This time I rounded on her and said "Wait your turn!!" She intimidated the young guy and he thanked me for saying something.

Pushy doesn't even cover it. Damned annoying it is too. It happens in all stores. They totally ignore queues.

On topic. It worries me what Shorten will sell off/agree to when he is in power, which he probably will be.

Racism aside, hey, Black Orchid. No, you're not Racist, you just don't like pushy Chinese women - with of course the emphasis on the "Chinese" in the description. Are all Chinese women pushy? Are they all "scruffy"? Are they all loud? No, they are not. Stop ascribing an entire Ethnicity attributes which don't occur amongst them all. Next you'll be complaining about their epicanthic eye folds...

Oh, yes, Bill will sell out Australia for a few Yuan, right, Black Orchid? Amazing how you overlook what the Tories have actually done as against what you fear Bill Shorten will do. Tut, tut, looks like you'll be worried then. He will in all likelihood win the next Federal Election. Which will see the Tories put back in the box they came from...

Chinese Dollars as as good as British or American or Japanese currency, Black Orchid. No one has explained why they fear Chinese investment. What do you expect them to do, push the infrastructure, the land into their back pockets and take it home to China, hey? Tut, tut, you fear your own imagination.

At least the Chinese know what to do with muzzos.

They re-educate them.

we need that here.

A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Chinese ARE pushy Brian, get over it, and there are plenty of them around here for me to know that. Over the past few years they have outnumbered the locals.

Did I say they were all scruffy? NO I did not. In fact I mentioned the "scruffy" part because I found that highly unusual and NOT because I was declaring that ALL Chinese women are scruffy. So no prize for you there. Totally wrong as usual.

Did I say they were all loud? NO I did not. In fact I also mentioned the "yelling" part because I also found that highly unusual and NOT because I was declaring that ALL Chinese are loud. In fact, mostly they are very quiet. So no prize there either Brian. Totally wrong as usual.

As for the rest I am sure you are more than happy to sell ALL of Australia to the Chinese. Not very patriotic are you? You would have been lined up before a firing squad as an enemy of the state in the past.

You have really really strange thought patterns Brian. Really really weird. Always twisting intent to look for the worst when the worst is not stated nor is it intended. You must be a bundle of fun at parties
