That makes me pity gay men. They have the worst of both sexes: the sex drive of a man and the emotional needs of a woman. Their lives are usually one disaster after another.

I have no idea what the motivation is in a lesbian's mind - perhaps a hatred of men, maybe it's genetic - but I've never taken the trouble to find out. I have unwittingly met some attractive lesbians, assuming friendship was their motive, but their attitudes appeared more sexually devious than emotionally needy.
I think you protest too much. Further it is perfectly normal for some women to be attracted to other women- at least as normal as it is for men to eb attracted to other men. I don't knwo why you are "tolerant" with men who are gay but not women who are.
You identify some friends that have been attarctive lesbians - how do you know they were attractive if there was nothign there? I find very few people are eentirely black and white on the issue of sexuality. Are you sure you ar enot just denying a part of oyurself in this very harsh put down of lesbianism in comparison to male homosexuality?

Probably something to do with heterosexuals being able to identify with others who find the opposite to their own gender attractive...

Have you a degree in psychology Rainbow? Did you assume from my post that I was a closet lesbian? Of course there are women who are attractive and I'm happy to give a female a compliment if I admire something about them - but it doesn't mean that I want to have sex with them. I think Boxy has it right or maybe it has something to do with the fact that males generally are more sexually needy than women and it's easier to understand why they often turn to their own sex for comfort. Obviously genetics play some part in this also.
I'm sure there are heterosexual men out there who think other males are attractive, but don't feel inclined to sleep with them. There are also men who don't mind lesbians, yet can't tolerate gay males. You can admire beauty in the same sex without being gay.

I was called "shallow" last night because I said Mary McKillop had a beautiful face, but I don't think it has any implications. Unless I'm a latent lesbian necrophiliac.
The better I get to know people, the more I find myself loving dogs.

Rainbow this seems like a silly conversation. I don't hate and condemn lesbians, just the thought of sex with one is very distasteful. I wasn't nasty to women I've met in the past who were that way inclined - I just departed politely.
I would prefer to have a friendship with a gay man than a lesbian. My personal preferance - narrow as it is!
What's it to you anyway - are you bi-sexual?

Thsi is pretty damning of lesbian women. I think they have a right to their sexuality and their relationships, just as you or I do.

No-one said otherwise. You're making a mountain out of a molehill. It would be interesting to know the general consensus of heterosexual men who would admit they didn't mind lesbians, but would walk away from a gay man if he hit on them.
