I don't know nor care what the Wiki has to say about the event but I do know the true story.

Sutherland Shire (the 1st in OZ) never had any ethnic problems because it didn't have any large groupings of ethnic minorities, let alone slummy enclaves.

In the 80s it was common on weekends for ethnic family groups (with Granny in black and a head rag) to picnic in the park areas of Cronulla's beaches.
They tended to mind their own business and as non swimmers avoided the water. The Greeks used to harvest the Sea urchins around the rocky areas which was good if you surfed Cronulla Point, because if you step on a Sea urchin you can't just pull the spines out. They're brittle and snap off, so must be dug out. One break at Soth Cronulla was known as "Sand shoes" because of Sea urchin infestation.

In the Early 90s Muslims from phuk knows where took over the BBQ/picnic grounds every weekend at Audley in Royal National Park (entrance off Princess Hwy between Loftus and Engadine). We locals had been using this area on and off since forever, but now you'd have wogs reserving parking spaces for their cohort and telling us we can't use the BBQ plates because we might put pork on it ... so put pork on it was exactly what we did.

In the mid 90s Miranda Fair (a Westfield's shopping complex - now largest in Southern hemisphere) was being enlarged from one residential block to 2.
13 members of the construction crew were 'Mongrel Mob' members (street gang from NZ) and the pay roll got robbed. They started hanging out at Miranda Hotel and making a nuisance of themselves. Black Uhlans outlaw club (what most refer to as a bikie gang) wiped the footpath with their faces and Mongrel Mob moved on.

Then Lebanese muslims from the Bankstown area started hanging out in the foyer areas of Miranda fair on Thursday nights and harassing people as Lebo muslims generally do. Resentment was building.

In 2005 Lebanese muslims from the Bankstown area started hanging around Cronulla beaches on weekends and making a nuisance of themselves as they tend to do. Most people just gave them a wide berth. When they came down to Garie beach (in Royal National Park) where many of us from Engadine and surrounds considered our local beach, they tried to get tough, were told to go have anal with each other and so they pulled knives.
Well over 100 locals throwing rocks at Lebo knife wielders meant they retreated with damaged cars.

So back to Cronulla they went to be the nuisance factor. They were playing soccer on Eloura (North Cronulla) beach and kept kicking their ball into other beach goers. The life guards (to their credit) told the Lebos to pull their heads in, so the Lebos beat up the life guards. Resentment was now at boiling point.

A clean up/retaliation campaign went viral on the mobile/cell phone networks around the shire. Alan Jones got wind of it so tried jumping on the inflammation band wagon ... suggesting that "Bikie gangs should be brought in to sort these characters out" not knowing the Lebanese had already infiltrated and taken over the Nomads MC and Comanchero MC.

5000 flag wavers got on the turps and roughed up a few wogs, the cops ran away and the Lebos' pride was hurt.
So in retaliation instead of going back to Cronulla for a beating they attacked Maroubra.
They also prowled around the shire in cars looking for potential victims and stabbed a young bloke protecting 4 girls after leaving Cronulla Leagues Club at Woolaware on foot.

It's still very iffy around Cronulla even today
But the muzzos generally give it a wide berth, except some smaller family groups.

When larger groups start to grow, a number of locals generally start milling around which frightens the cowardly muzzos and they retreat.

Will there be another Cronulla riot?
Possibly not
But in time there will be a Granville riot
And this time it will get nasty

People, real people, not muzzos, are getting fed up.

Of course it ignores the people - innocent people - who were roughed up. It ignores the Ambulances which were stoned. It ignores the woman and children who were mobbed. It ignores the cowardice of the perpetrators - the flag waving jingoists - the mob who proudly proclaimed they were "born here" and who would spit on the real owners of Australia, the Indigenous people, if given half a chance. Booze, heat and violence - the basic ingredients for a riot. Alan Jones and others added fuel to the fire, which Hanson had lit. Oh, dearie, dearie, me. The Jingoists who perpetrated the Cronulla riot got off basically scott free. Funny that, hey?
