What is it like to wear a hijab?

Well an SS uniform is also just a piece of clothing yet it has particular meaning to certain people.
The hijab is used by Muslim men to cover their women to protect them from the unwanted gaze of other men.

Muslim women are tricked into wearing it by telling them it's to be modest for a fictional sky daddy. Yup, a bloke who rode into the sky on a winged horse wants them to cover their hair.

they have recently been GIVEN PERMISSION TO DRIVE IN SAUDI ARABIA>> that was the point of the comment.

It may not be an issue to them but it IS an issue to other drivers on the roads, Cods. Hijabs are fine and do not obstruct a driver's view BUT I have seen women driving to pick up their kids in niqabs and burkas and that IS an issue on the roads.

It gives them no peripheral or rear vision and that IS a safety hazard for others on the road around them.

Back in mid 90s Mozzies who didn't live in the Sutherland Shire started using the Sutherland public pool complex, and their women swam fully clothed.
Within a few months Cryptosporidium was found in the water, so the pool complex was shut down, the pools drained and scrubbed with heavy duty chlorine (basicly hydrochloric acid).
When the pool complex reopened it had a new rule prohibiting swimming fully clothed, suggesting the Mozzie women were the cause of the infection.
I imagined it was because they would sweat so much with all that gear on, but it turned out to be because they don't wipe their arses properly, so their shit is on their clothing which is dispersed into the water.

A couple of years later there was a bit of a stink over "women only" days at Auburn's pool complex so the Mozzie women could swim without being fully clothed.

No matter how you look at it, this demographic (Muslims) has a negative impact on our lifestyle.

According to the 2016 census, the Muslim population numbered 604,235 individuals, of whom 42% live in Greater Sydney, 31% in Greater Melbourne, and 8% in Greater Perth.

I remember an American email friend asking me about "coloured" people in Canberra. As it happened, I had to sit and wait (about 45 minutes) for somebody at the Belconnen Mall. I counted 4 "coloured" people (including a Mother with a baby in a pram), a couple of females wearing scarves and a few Asian people but most people were Caucasian. That was several years ago and undoubtedly there are a lot more these days.

Numbers are immaterial. Does the presence of a tiny minority really worry you so much that you become alarmed at the mere thought there may be someone who is wearing a Hijab?

I have served with/studied with/worked with numerous Muslims over the decades. I have never had a problem with them or what their women choose to wear or not to wear. Indeed, the overwhelming majority of Muslim women in Australia choose not to wear the Hijab and only an even tinier minority choose to wear a Burqa. They are not forced to wear that clothing. I have a Muslim neighbour who's wife doesn't wear either.
