I agree, Trump is between a rock and a hard place.Black Orchid wrote: ↑Fri Oct 19, 2018 7:12 amsprintcyclist wrote: ↑Fri Oct 19, 2018 12:37 amhow come some of the media is saying that the US 'has' to do something about it ?
My thoughts too. Demands that Trump do something about anything on the one hand then strong criticism of him if he does do something about anything.
Kashoggi was a Saudi citizen but a US resident. As a US resident he was entitled to some protection from the US Government. The murder however occurred in Turkey, outside of US jurisdiction.
Trump rang and spoke to the Saudi Prince and then repeated what he had been told, suggesting that the Saudi hit men were "rogue killers". Sorry, there is no evidence of that. They appear to have been employed by the Saudi government.
Trump is foolish to even consider that they were "rogue killers" as being true, particularly with the apparent evidence that the Turks have announced as being in their possession.
The Saudis were foolish to even consider undertaking Kashoggi's assassination. This will hurt them.
What I find interesting is that the MSM is downplaying Kashoggi's connections with the Islamists and in particular the Islamic Brotherhood. There was a Journalist who was interviewed the other day on Radio National - he was an ex-compatriot of Kashoggi's. He was very clear about what Kashoggi believed in.
However, no one deserves to be killed and dismembered, even if he is an Islamist.
