Where to start?
My wife love travelling the Cotswolds in England, so much to see and do.
But to do it properly, you need to self drive.
What you think may be easily seen in a day, in reality may take several days because of your own personal interests.
Wales is beautiful and walking it takes many days to fully appreciate it.
Then there is Scotland, brilliant in summer, amazing in winter.
And don't forget the tattoo.

We enjoyed China, the cultural differences are amazing.
Beijing, Shanghai even Hong Kong all differed not only from our culture but even from each other.
But to see China properly you need to get out into the province areas, many people would not see or realise just how beautiful and diverse China can be.

Germany is also a beautiful country, and the people friendly and quite easy going.
The architecture amazes as does the roads, makes our goat tracks look pathetic.
Only spend a few weeks in Germany, Berlin mostly, wish I could spend more time there.

France, I only managed to see Paris.
Can't say I'm a fan.
I just wish they would finish that building they have the scaffolding up for.
It's been years since they built the scaffolding, it almost as bad as Australian road building, almost.

Finland, pick your time, winter is really cold, summer is cold, but you can at least move about
There is a lot of history in Finland, people are nice, most speak English to a good degree. In Turku, there is a 12th century castle that you can wander for a small fee.
Really worth it.
But in summer, there is no night, hard to get used to.

USA take it or leave it
I travelled around Texas, New York State, Pennsylvania, generally the east coast.
There is good and bad
Lots of food, too much, but not great quality, we have better and more diverse here.
People are much better at home than abroad, much nicer.
Most thugs are cheaper than here as well, even with the exchange rate.

Canada
Didn't see much of Canada, was working big weeks only had a few days to explore.
Cold is my main impression, I was cold all the time.
Minus 28 degrees for nearly two weeks, with only one day above zero.
Food is crap.
Canadians, even southern Canadians, have difficulty understanding Australians.
We talk to fast, too much accent and using slang stuff them completely.
When I was over there, I had a finish mate with me, even he had a better grasp of what I was saying than the Canadian.
The Canadian continually asked the Finnish guy for translations.

Europe, seen a bit but not much

Russia, now there is a place to visit.
Wonderful people, great fun, tough as nails and love a good joke
Mostly I was in Moscow, but did some day trips to outlying villages, some are very impoverished to the point of destitute.
Great to be with a Russian, they know the land and make great tour guides.
But watch the drinking, they really hit the stuff big time.

That's all for now.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Vancouver had the worst looking meat that I have ever seen. Instead of being pink/red like ours is it was brownish and really fatty. If I had meat that colour here I would throw it out.

How would a 'self-cycling' holiday around the Cotswolds do?

We spent a month self driving in east France. Beautiful.

Would like a road hollie in North WA.

The missus and I are a bit old to do that sorry of mileage.
While it's only about 50 miles radius from bath to most attractions, I'd struggle to do that in a day.
We hired a car and drive
We only filled up twice in the two weeks we spent at the Cotswolds, living in bath and travelling every day to a different village.

But the food is good
We found that a good breakfast
And one meal a day was plenty
The pubs are great, if we ate lunch we snacked for dinner
If we snacked at lunch, we ate dinner in bath, plenty of nice eating establishments.

We had dinner at Oxford one day and barely got through the meal, beautiful.

Would have loved to see more of France, but I had urgent meetings and a conference in Amsterdam to attend.
I didn't even get to see much of Amsterdam, two days in all, one at a conference.
