Children also resort to name calling when they feel their position is challenged.

Leftists will always end up at this junction in discussions and adopt their baser emotional state.
They do this because their views are developed within a state of fear and threat.

They feel threatened when presented with views that differ from standard leftwing orthodoxy and instinctively understand that they cannot counter a thought-out reasoned and logical premise. This is because they are unable to apply it to their own arguments, as it would mean challenging oneself and leftwing orthodoxy. This heightens the feeling of threat because they understand how the leftist groupthink hivemind operates and how they will swarm and savage dissenting views with emotional invective and accusations. They are especially vicious from within their own ranks, thus they become trapped in the most vicious of vicious circles.

The surrendering of reason and logic for fear and the tribal sanctity of their group, leaves them with no ability to recognise a venue of reason and logical discussion , let alone participate in one. However they still have the innate human need to try and reduce their self induced state of fear and threat.
Without logic and reason, the silencing of dissent becomes the go-to and only tool available in their battle of ideas toolbox, so they must reframe discussion in emotional terms where labelling, name calling and hivemind attacks determine the outcome.

Regression to childlike emotion and name calling in discussion is especially prevalent in marxists.
