I was thinking of moving in for a while. I feel undervalued , a couple of weeks at your place would do wonders for my self esteem lol

Never allow yourself to feel undervalued or less than loved.BigP wrote: ↑Tue Oct 02, 2018 6:46 am

Some people never communicate their appreciation.
You are appreciated, you just don't know it.
I had a mate, he loved his wife with a passion
But he never told her so
He never admitted it to anyone.
But you could see him change in her presence, it was subtle but obvious to those who know.
She became very ill with cancer about 10 years ago, and it was touch and go.
He was inconsoulable, he was a broken man.
I told him to tell her he loved her, nothing more, no lecture.
He said that's stupid
But he did,
She fought the cancer and won
He now tells her he loves her every day
She is happier than ever.
Three simple words mean so much
But we are afraid of being thought of as foolish or of not having that love returned.
All I can say is its worth it
Even if it don't work out, at least you have proven to yourself how brave you are.
And if it works out
Life is just so much better.
I have a dream
A world free from the plague of Islam
A world that has never known the horrors of the cult of death.
My hope is that in time, Islam will be nothing but a bad dream

Re: Appreciation Thread
Lost a family member this week
Funeral on Saturday.
In the last few years they had gradually lost touch and become a recluse
This was because of the dementia.
Didn't recognise their son and would not open the door to allow carers or anyone to come in.
She was a nice person until the dementia took over.
It must be horrible to lose yourself like that
In the end it was better for her and the family.
When I go I hope it's not lingering
I hope I still have all my limited wits
Not for my sake
But for my family.
Watching the horror of family dying slowly like that is the worst thing I can imagine.
Say you love them to someone you love today
Because no one knows what will happen tomorrow.

My Mother had Dementia and it's a terrible thing. At least she knew who we were though and I consider that a blessing. I can't imagine what it would be like if they didn't recognise you.

My Mum had Dementia for 13 years before she passed away recently. She didn't know anyone for at least 10 years. Paranoia, aggression, anxiety, regression, severe cognitive impairment, incontinence, dysphagia, etc, etc, etc, in the end....Black Orchid wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 7:12 pmMy Mother had Dementia and it's a terrible thing. Dementia is a horrible disease... you lose them long before they die, and they lose themselves and that is frightening for them too.
My Dad is still alive and is blind and deaf, I'd been looking after both of them for many years, I'm still looking after him, he's 90 and frail, he's starting to suffer from Dementia too. He is aware of what is happening and after what mum went through he is worried about the future.
No one deserves to have to go through Dementia...

I was quite lucky
Both my parents were fully cognizant right up to their sudden death.
My mother suffered for years as a result of a serious staff infection that could not be cured, but her death was sudden and unexpected.
Dad suffered a little for the last few months, but thankfully, it was short and sudden.
I watched as a favourite uncle suffered for years from cancer
It was dreadful, not only for him, but for his entire family.
Sudden trips to hospital at all hours, months of recuperation, sitting in death watch.
Then rallying around, weaker and sicker, to suffer more.
When he died it was almost a blessing.
I have another uncle dying of emphysema, this is perhaps one of the worst ways to go
If you smoke, any of you, please stop.
5 years now, living each day struggling to breath.
He hates his life
But again, his family suffers more.
Death takes us all.
But it's the living that suffer when your life expires slowly and painfully.
A quick end is best.

Yes Emphysema is a big issue, Dad smoked since he was 12 and stopped only in his 70s...
His breathing is poor and he has 2 puffers he needs to use daily one he needs to keep with him when he finds breathing impossible. We thought he might be on oxygen by now. His breathing is incredibly laboured and noisy, he sounds like a coffee percolator, I have to keep reminding him to use his puffers. His blindness is also due to smoking he has Macular Degeneration (the wet variety) there is nothing they can do about that variety as yet, and his sight has worsened over the last 10 years in particular. Being at home enables him to find his way around, but his current unsteadiness is limiting any real movement about. All in all though he does well considering.
Mind you if he would accept a hearing aid he'd be doing much better and we wouldn't have to yell all the time.

I appreciate old Germanic architecture. Too bad Untermensch is turning Europe into Africa. Soon waiting for some mud shacks.
The one that says the least can often have a very different perspective and hold the answer. The least qualified person may hold the most wisdom. When you don’t have knowledge or experience blocking your perspective, you can see problems and solutions.
