Anytime you have split your party you have made a bad move, you can not effect any meaningful change if you can not take power.

I also think it foolish of Labor to lock us into a postion that may cost us billions while the real cause of the problem the US, China, India hold their cards to their chest before they even go to Copenhagen. Labor is because they wanted to split the Liberals, want to deliever a huge domestic political win, outflank the Greens, but when the cost comes in, it may backfire on them, people will not be poor to be good.
Nobody would be poor under the ETS.

It would also have corrected the major under compensation for the GST for those under $65K at the time (while those on over $65K got ridiculously OVER compensated!) Plenty of places have an ETS and we would not have lost out introducing one--christ I get sick of fuckwits saying we should not be the first to move on climate change

Now stupid Tony Abbott is going to introduce "A Great Big Tax" which will please the liberal base by being a better "paint a rock" scheme than Howard's--it is a "pull a weed" scheme for 'dole bludgers.' And will cost heaps, lower the already fragile dignity of he unemployed, not give training, complete and utter waste of money.
